That's fast response time! I emailed Dan Pritchett, who looks out for things on the website among his many hats. The page numbers are still messed up (see that other thread) but at least people can start bidding now. I've put in a bid.

I bid $36 on the Dictionary of the Bible and $30 on the Dictionary of Christ and the Gospels. Even though I would be willing to pay these prices (which is the question I ask myself when bidding), I expect both to eventually go for half of these prices.

What do all of you think of the Barne's notes? I did not bid on it because it is based on the KJV, which I do not use at all. I am afraid it would be of limited value to me.

Does anyone have it in print, and if so is it usable with other versions or is it too closely tied to the KJV?

Barnes was one of the first items ever placed on the Community Pricing list - though it continues to gain interest, it does so very slowly.

Why? Partly because it is tied to the KJV - but I would expect anything of its age to be tied to the KJV. Though I do not know, I expect that the Hastings dictionaries are as well. You can find the text of Barnes Notes here:

Of course, this has no connection to the rest of the LOGOS platform - which is the real advantage of this title being in LOGOS. I bid $75 on this title - having a complete Bible commentary series is often worth the extra money. As I said in my earlier post, this is what I would be willing to pay for this set of books, not what I expect to pay for it.

Even if you are put off by the KJV, bid what this set would be worth to you. If the eventual price is more than you are willing to pay, do not increase your bid.

I should note that I only linked to the Philippians 1 Barnes Notes - though more is available at the site. Philippians is my current preaching series - so it was what I went looking for out of habit.
