HELP - Whats going to happen on 1st June when the 4-digit build number overflows?
The version number actually has four parts:
4.0c Beta 7 is 4.03.3.9055
The 4 refers to the major version number Logos 4. The .03 is the minor version number (4.0c). The fact that the next section is a 3 tells me they've probably already rolled over build numbers a couple of times before they even got to the beta release. So I expect that 3 will simply bump up to 4 and they'll start over again at 0000 with the 4-digit build number. Not to worry. (I don't have the official inside story as to what that third segement of the version number is, though.)
Rosie,
Actually, you can see they rolled from 4.02.xx.yyyy to 4.03.xx.yyyy without a break in the yyyy sequence. Also, the rollover from 4.0b to 4.0c etc.
Actually, I was just having fun with the numbers for no real reason ... [:P]

Yes, I know. And I'm responding to your speculations for no real reason. I'm thinking that we can view the 4.02... (= 4.0b), 4.03... (= 4.0c) as the release number and the ...3.8947, ...3.9055, ... as the build number. The former and latter increment independently of each other. When we hit 3.9999, I expect the next build number to be 4.0000 and it won't affect whatever release number we're on. It effectively gives them however many more digits they need to represent build numbers.
BTW, this reminds me of a funny story from when I was working on Microsoft Money development. Using 32-bit values, we were able to represent a maximum net worth of just over $4 billion in the software. When Bill Gates' wealth grew beyond that, we realized the shortcoming of our design architecture: the decision to represent monetary amounts in only 32 bits meant our own CEO couldn't use our product. Fortunately, we figured he was probably paying someone else to manage his finances for him and didn't need to use MS Money. But I believe that limitation was removed in a later version of Money after I moved on.
Well Rosie, if you personally had that problem, you could buy more Logos resources until your balance fits back in 32 bits. [:P]

I'm nowhere near in danger of having that problem... [:)]
Not that this has anything to do with anything, but I've been a happy Microsoft Money Small Business user for 6 or 7 years and recently had to switch to Quicken because of Microsoft discontinuing the Money line [:(] I'm very disappointed and don't like Quicken nearly as much.

I'm very bummed about that decision, too. So far I can still keep using Money 2009, because I don't use any of the online features. It would be traumatic for me to have to switch to our old nemesis Quicken. [:(]

Yeah, I was forced to switch when my computer crashed and I couldn't get my purchased download copy of Money 2007 to install on the new computer and couldn't figure out where I had bought it from to request a license transfer (or whatever I would have needed). I considered holding out for the promised version of Money 2009 that wouldn't require internet activation, but couldn't afford to wait that long (needed to get taxes done, etc)...so I very reluctantly purchased Quicken 2010. Things that I took for granted in Money are handled very poorly by Quicken...apparently they really want businesses using Quickbooks instead of Quicken Home & Business. I have a hard time justifying either the expense or the complexity of Quickbooks for my small service business that doesn't require inventory tracking, payroll, or extensive client management. I can live with Quicken, but that doesn't mean I have to be happy about it [:p]

They just shipped it yesterday. And it's totally free. Yippee!! It's not too late to switch back! Quicken exports QIF format, and Money imports it, so you don't have to redo all the transaction entries you've made since you bought Quicken.
That's just plain cool! I wish they'd do that for some of their other retired products, OS included.
Who wouldn't love a copy of Windows 1.0 running on their brand new laptop? Oh. Me.

Fantastic! Thanks for the great news Rosie!! I'm glad I decided to stumble back into this thread, especially since I'd forgotten that I had ever posted in it (it would be nice if there were some indication on the forums of which discussions you've participated in). [:)]

LOL, I just saw this post Thomas...I used Windows 1.0, it was horrid [:)]
FWIW, for those with a Technet subscription, Microsoft does do this in effect. I can download almost all versions of Windows back to 3.1 and also DOS 6.0 or 6.22
EDIT - Correction: They offer XP, Vista, 7, and all flavors of 3.1, 3.11, and 3.2...plus the two DOS versions. They don't offer Win 9x, any flavor of NT, or 2000. BTW, does anybody remember 3.2? I used 3.11, but never knew there was a 3.2.
Hey Rosie, can you help me out and make sure I'm reading this right ( Download Page ) ...It looks like they've released Money Deluxe Sunset, but that Home and Business Sunset is coming a little later still? Or am I misreading that? Home and Business is the version I need. Thx [:)]

I'll ask my contact on the Money team and get back to you.
I used 3.11, but never knew there was a 3.2.
Ditto! I still got a 3.11 floppy. And I'm still using Money 97 in Windows 7!

I'm told that Home & Biz should be coming this week, perhaps Tuesday.
More great news, thanks for checking on that for me Rosie [:)]

I probably have 3.11 floppies around in a closet somewhere [:)]

It's there now. Here's the link.
Woohoo! Thanks once more Rosie for keeping me posted [:)]
Perfect timing too, I need to get some invoices done and I've been putting it off so I wouldn't have to get it all set up in Quicken.
