commentary collections
I'm trying to create commentary collections, but in a passage guide, it treats it like a monograph. I have some commentary collections created by someone else, but I can't figure out how to format the start with entries. I know about the mytag thing, but I'm missing something.

If you populate the "rule" with something like "type:commentary" you should get all of your commentaries included. Then this can refined around subject, author, series, etc.
Can you post a screenshot of the collection you are trying to define and outline what you are hoping to have in it?

This is the custom commentary guide I currently use when I just want to see what commentaries I have for a particular passage. The first section will show me every commentary I have all at once, but I usually have this section collapsed in my guide. The other sections are more useful to me, breaking down my commentaries based on whether they (1) are technical in nature, (2) specifically focus on discussing textual variants, (3) provide background information about history, culture, customs, archaeology, etc., (4) are intermediate level, (5) are expository, (6) were written by those associated with the Reformation, (7) were written during medieval times, (8) were written by the early church, (9) are all-in-one volumes that (usually) provide less depth, (10) are even shorter (this category mostly includes the marginal notes from various study Bibles I have an Logos), (11) "special" commentaries (such as the Exegetical Summaries, High Definition Commentaries, and Lexham Bible Guides), and finally (12) a collection of resources that for various reasons Logos has categorized as monographs or other resource types but that I want to show up with my commentaries because they specifically provide commentary. This last category may be what you are asking about. As you can seen below, I tagged my individual resources and used my tagging as criteria for what I wanted included, and it works just fine. I'd be interested to know what resources are included. I cannot get results for monographs with Bible milestones in the Commentaries section.

And this is very efficient compared to rules with lists of Authors, Series, Titles and the like.

In a passage guide, when you click on the commentary, it goes to that passage. With a monograph, Logos finds every place that verse is mentioned, so you might 5 hits for a book, and you then choose which one to open up to.
Just now I have a passage guide open to Neh 8:18. in one of my collections, I have a commentary with 12 results in 8 articles, and not one of them says chapter 8. I have to open the book somewhere and then scroll to the passage.
I have some commentary collections that somebody else made and they work fine. .

The collections you are using looks like the one I have. I use the technical one, but I built other ones like recommended commentaries. I do the mytag thing, but the results aren't the same. Commentaries are listed in blue, but all my collections are black. Commentaries normally open up to the exact passage in question. My collections work like monographs. It finds all the listings of that verse in the book. So one book lists 12 results in 9 articles, and none of them looks like the verse I want. So I have to click on one and then scroll to the passage.

I created a collection I call commentary addendum. It now has over 600 titles in it. These are books that should offer enough exposition of Bible passages that I want to see them in my passage guide where I can easily find them. Most of these are monographs.

Yes, that is by design. The Commentaries section works only for Bible Commentaries and Bible Notes.

Looks like I currently have 127 resources with this tag. 26 of them are edition:ebook, such as the Wiersbe Bible Study Series. 20 of them are The Great Texts of the Bible series (no clue why this is not categorized as a commentary). Most are just random monographs.

I am actually really glad you made this comment! I recently went back through my commentaries to redo some tagging and update my custom names. I also created a new custom commentary guide to replace my old one, but when I did that I apparently made an oversight that you caught. That final section should have been a collection using mytag:commentary-nonversified, but instead I added a section to my guide using another commentaries section. You are exactly right. I cannot get that last section to give me any results anymore, but when I corrected it back to being a collection, I got results again. Thanks for catching that! [B][H]

Somebody created a number of commentary collections. I use from that collection: commentaries technical. The commentaries are listed in blue. I try to create some commentary collections. They are listed in black and work differently. That's what I'm trying to figure out. What did he do differently?

As you can see below a collection can be selected in two sections of the Passage Guide
If the collection contains bible commentaries put it in the Commentaries section. If the collection doesn't contain commentaries then put it in the Collections section, where the titles are listed in black.

I called Logos. The first person couldn't help me, but the second person asked me about collection and commentary sections. He showed me in the section of options for a guide that there is a commentary section and that I could put any of my commentary collections in there and get the results I want.
But thanks again. I appreciate your taking the time to help me. It's not the first time.
