Post here if you took advantage of the March Madness deal and whether you purchased the whole set or filled out your existing set.
I filled out my existing set with 25 volumes at 79% off.
I wonder when the NICOT/NICNT will be finished. I didn't realize so many books haven't been completed yet. I was excited to plunge into Exodus but then realized it was missing. Still happy though
I had very few and bought 41 volumes for 65% off. My last big purchase.
I bought it and a few extra goodies to complete some sets. This was an awesome MM 2018!
Thank you FL, Bob, Phil and the entire team involved in putting together these deals! Thanks to the publishers too!
DAL
I had 28 volumes so bought the remaining 20 I needed.
I'm very thankful for the commentaries that were in the mix. The Mobile Ed stuff was still to pricey for me, but in addition to NIC, I was able to pick up some other commentaries during the sale as well.
I got NICOT/NT, completed Reformed Expository Commentary series, bought The Gospel According to the OT series separate instead of the bundle (Only about $5 bucks difference getting them separate and there’s a VERY good reason for that), I got the missing PNTC on Luke, the missing Volume on Romans NIGTC AND the missing volumes on the Exegetical Summaries series.
I skipped Mobile Ed. It’s too pricey and don’t really have the time for it.
Great deals over all! 👍😁👌
I grabbed the remaining NICOT/NICNT volumes! I've almost pulled the trigger on the set a few times. But, glad I waited. I save quite a bit with the volumes that I already owned.
I have some money coming in later in the week, so will grab it then [Y]
I'm in too.
I upgraded for $18
I picked up 5 volumes of NICOT/NT for less than $90. James, Hebrews, John, Judges, and Hosea.
I have been watching for a good sale on NICOT/NICNT for quite some time and jumped at the chance to pick up the 24 volumes that I was missing. BECNT is the other series on my wishlist that I'm watching and waiting for.
Wild Eagle, you get the award for the least amount spent purchasing the set during MM so far!
I'd have loved to grab some NIC volumes, but I just can't afford the complete bundle. I completed my Pillar and NIGTC collections though (I think I got my earlier bundles with Logos 6 Gold, but it's all a bit of a blur).
I'm particularly excited to finally have the NIGTC Romans commentary in my library.

yeah, I thought mine at 32 was decent (Joshua and Zechariah). Nice to get it all up-to-date and glad especially about the Zechariah commentary.
Anyone knows why there are two links to the same NICOT/NICNT set, and one without discount price? Just want to make sure.....

The second product link was a special offer for anyone who bought Logos 7 but that offer has ended. Looks like FL didn't remove it from the store.
☺️ I don’t have to spend much on this MM. I own most of popular commentaries except ICC and Yale, but those are still too expensive. If Faithlife would break them to single books then I would consider to add some.
Picked up the OT; God is good!
Perhaps this has been answered elsewhere but is the sale price only for the entire set? When I go to an individual volume of the NICNT it's listed at full price.
Sale is on full sets only. Dynamic pricing on full sets does apply.
That's disappointing. It makes this year's March Madness available for those who have quite a bit of money, or a large collection already. But I guess it's good to change it up every now and then. I'm glad for those who had the funds to purchase entire sets at a discount.
I assume you already owned the NT, because the set is not sold separately. Your dynamic pricing must’ve been cheap too. My dynamic pricing was close enough to the lowest price offered last year by the competition that I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. I’m glad dynamic pricing was enabled! Sometimes I wonder what they’re going to offer next year, that might catch my attention and then I realize there must be a lot of new users and that the sales will continue even if some of us won’t be buying as much.
is the sale price only for the entire set?
Yes.

With author, courses and commentaries available, FL can pick 2 out of these 3, + voila, MM19.
Thanks very much for your explanation!

I am happy for those who are able to make the purchase right now. It really is an excellent deal. I hope it will come again in the future to give others opportunity to seize it at a more opportune time.
This commentary set is a good deal at $1,000, so this is a super good deal and will likely never be repeated.
NIC is being updated regularly. So a purchase today gets the newest volumes, and when others are produced, they need to be bought separately, but at least they are being produced. Can we say that about any other major commentary (Tyndale is also updated, but is in another category)? Most are published, start to age, and are left that way. Kudos to Eerdmans for keeping a good commentary set current.

I should add (before anyone else does) that Word Biblical Commentary has issued some revised volumes and second editions. It doesn't seem, however, that Nelson's efforts to keep their volumes fresh are as extensive as Eerdmans'.
I was very pleased to finish off the NICOT/NT set. Also finished off EBC and a few missing NIVAC.
I bought the champions and the runner ups. I only needed one volume in NICOT/NICNT. Excited to have gotten the two exegesis courses as well because now I can do the Intermediate Biblical Languages Certificate. I am also excited to have gotten the Expositor's Bible Commentary revised. I usually don't buy Zondervan products because of the dynamic pricing issue, but this commentary was 57% off.
How are the courses?
Have you also grabbed the following as it comes out in a few weeks - so good to keep your set complete (at least that's my plan):
https://www.logos.com/product/150087/the-new-international-commentary-on-the-new-testament-the-letter-to-the-colossians
Whilst I really like the FF Bruce one that is included in the Set, McKnight's update is at a good pre-pub price [Y]

I placed my order. I just wish new volumes would come out this year instead of revised version by Moo and a “replacement” for Galatians by deSilva. Also
Webb, Robert L. [2 Peter, Jude] NICNT has been decades in preparation[;)]

Just in case anyone is on the fence, the price doubles to 49.99 when it's released on April 17th, 2018.
I'm most hopeful for the Kings volume by Hess but who knows when that will arrive.

I won't get to the courses for a while because busy with other certificate programs. Looking at the table of contents though they look great for what I think exegesis courses should look like.
Thanks. Now I won't miss that!
Any reason this volume is also not discounted?

Here is another volume that is not included:
https://www.logos.com/product/7457/new-international-commentary-on-the-new-testament-the-gospel-of-luke
It’s a volume on Luke 1977. We should at least get this one thrown in for free since all the older volumes are included in the 48 volume set except for the new ones.

Agreed

Not true. There are several older New Testament volumes listed on bestcommentaries.com that are not included in the 48 volume set.

You are correct! I have some of the older volumes that I got for free that’s why I thought they were part of the 48 volume set. My bad 🤗

I don't know about for free but I'd buy it for 60% off. As for haggai, I already have it for some reason... Recent prepub?
I've already got a couple of those topping the charts at BestCommentaries. My question is: should I complete the NIC collection? Or should I wait for the next sale (and possibly pay $5-$10 more per book - but only for the so-called better ones)?
I know for one that I will not be completing the WBC collection, since it has a reputation for being a rather uneven series.
What % of books in the NIC set would all of you consider to be not-so-helpful in your respective use cases?

I guess it all depends on when the next sale might be. From what I remember, the last sale I saw on NIC was $20 for 20. I don't think this set goes on sale all that often but I could be wrong. I have not by any means read more than 10% of this thing but the one reason I did get it as I've never been disappointed when I do go to it. Not to mention it seems that very often when I read a book, an NIC volume is cited. I'm never happy with citations so I always follow them up for context. That is why I completed it.

I am also interested in the answer to this. I have 22 of the strongest NIC volumes. I am not sure about the others.
Should I buy the EBCrev or just save my pennies for Logos 8?
WR82,
I had bought about the same number of highest ranked NIC volumes on bestcommentaries.com but when this sale came around, of the 25 that I still did not have, I found 16 were in the top 5. So, based on that, I purchased the remaining volumes of the NIC this week. Even though it cost me $350, we're probably not going to see the same price again. So, you may want to consider that.
