I wouldn't necessarily use a search, at least to start. I'd look up "Baptism" in the Factbook, and look for Bible dictionaries, and especially Bible Background dictionaries. The most helpful is probably a small section in the Dictionary of Jesus and the Gospels (2.2 and 3.1 in the first edition, 2.2 in the second edition — it's worth reading both editions if you have them).
Those entries suggest it would be worthwhile searching for something like: "proselyte baptism" NEAR Jewish. In my library, the most useful results I could see at a quick glance were:

In addition to what Mark has mentioned, I would expect technical commentaries to have some discussion of Jewish practices in passages that first mention John's baptism in the gospels.

If you narrow your search to BEFORE 9 WORDS it returns fewer hits and still retains the most relevant results.
