Random suggestions and compliments

I've been collecting some random suggestions and 4.0 highlights in a note file as I use the program. Some of these I would love to see an an "earlier rather then later" version. Others may be further down the road.

--Saved passage Guides...This was something we were really talking about wanting in 3.X and you delivered. Thanks!

--Word for Word Guide Translation...I like that I can add the english to the Greek or hebrew by clicking on the translation in the Word for Word section of a guide. Also, I like the way the word is bolded in the English next to the individual word's section to give you a snapshot of where the word fits.

by no means exhausted, but some others I've already commented on, and others I have yet to find :-)

4.0 Suggestions

---When you click on "File" and do a search for a note file or visual filter, etc that bears no results, have options for creating documents with those names. For instance clicking New Notes after doing an unsuccessful search for "Testing" would create a new note called "Testing"

---Allow the creation of user defined shortcuts for the Command Bar. I would love PG = passage Guide, EG=Exegetical Guide, WS=Word Study. If they are user defined that would be great, if they are Logos pre-defined that would be ok.

---When you left click on a reference, as if to keep the verse displayed and accessible, add shortcuts for Passage Guide and Exegetical guide at the bottom for the selected verse. for those who use Logos only to hover over text this may be a great way to put the availability of these guides where they are already used to going.

5.0 Wish list (Yes, I have to say it Smile )

---The one view missing from the passage guide is a description of the surrounding context of that passage. I would suggest one of two things to fill this void. 1) a pericope summary. It would be a basic list of Pericope titles, 5 titles before the searched reference and 5 after, in either a vertical list or paragraph format separated by "...". or 2) A tagging of Outlines, like your doing now with images. For instance, in front of every Bible book in the BKC is an outline of the book. Have a section that would display this outline, highlighting the current location's placement in the outline. For that matter If I do a passage guide for 1 Peter the passage guide, in my opinion, should go to the commentaries' intro to the book rather then to 1 peter 1:1.

Just my thoughts for what I would love to see. don't know how difficult they would be for implementing but I would sure love to see these features.

Some shortcuts would be excellent. I like your proposed ones. I don't need them to be user definable. A couple of memorable pre-defined shourtcut commands would be good for me.

I like it as it is... I think this belongs on the context menu where it is (though not necessarily easy to find)

Well, the one thing really missing for me is access to our preferred bibles. The passage guide doesn't give us the passage let alone its context (but I've mentioned this elsewhere).

That said, I like the idea of a section which displays outlines... Access to different outlines would be a real vantage.

If I do a passage guide for 1 Peter the passage guide, in my opinion, should go to the commentaries' intro to the book rather then to 1 peter 1:1.

If I do this, I would want a reminder that this tool exists for passages not for whole books

Having said that, where's the easy find information on individual books. Sounds like an excellent new guide - giving access to what different dictionaries, commentaries etc have to say about date, author, intended community, themes, structure, etc.

Agreed this would be nice...layout similar to Literary Typing section would be fine. As an interim step until we get to 5.0 maybe a section could be added to the guide that displays data from the Outline Bible . It comes in all the scholars packages...as part of package upgrades for 4.0 maybe it could be added to alll lower level packages (debate will rage on till eterninty whether its appropriate for OL package). This would nicely fill the gap. Other outline resources exist but this is the only one that is indexed by verse, the others are monographs.

For instance I were running a guide on 1 Peter 1:6-9 the outline section of the report would display the following information from outline bible:

Agreed. I've started putting together a Reading list of the Epistle of Peter. In it I have an outline section of the different outlines of 1st peter I've found. Integrating this into the passage guide would be great.
