Experience with German/French base package with English package?

I was just wondering how it works if you already have an English base package, but purchase either a German or French base package - something I am thinking about for the future. Would that mean that I would have two (or three) separate platforms, or can I just change the language settings in the program as desired?

It's just that it's clearly more cost efficient to buy one of the packages in some cases in order to get some of the German and French products.

One option is using English interface with German (Deutsch) and English resources:

Noted Inductive Precept visual filters need Deutsch translations (so LEB has more precept icons inserted). Clicked on God in LEB (1 Thessalonians 5:12) that has Corresponding Words highlight of Gottes. Logos Greek Morphology and Discourse Analysis visual filters work in both.

In general all base packages work in a complementary fashion, meaning there is no need to have separate installations, etc.

You can always access all of your books (and they will appear in searches) regardless of what language you search in (if something is tagged to a specific concept or bible verse, etc.). You can simply switch your interface via the settings and after a restart Logos will be available in that specific language( It is possible that certain segments will remain in English if you do not own it in a specific language or it is not available in that language). I would recommend doing searches always in the language of the interface that you are currently working in, but in general you can also use English commands as fall back options in non-English interfaces.

One more thing - While there are full-fledged German base packages(you can find all the info on them https://de.logos.com/), French does not have any base packages. The Editions Clé collections that I assume you are referring to are only resource collections and do not include datasets or data types.

To be 100% clear, all your resources will be available no matter what language you have selected. Only the interface (and some datasets) change. So there's usually not that much point switching language — just keep it on what you're most comfortable with.

The only exception I can think of is word-stemming (aka "Match all word forms"). That won't work well if you're searching in a language different from the one you've selected in Program Settings.

On the plus side, it's easy to create dynamic collections for resources in a specific language (which can be useful to eliminate false positives for searching). So (whatever the language of the interface), you can search just your German, or just your French resources, as desired.

You can even specify multiple languages in one search query. For example, spirit OR geist OR esprit. You can also specify the language (for example, you might want to exclude English results for 'esprit de corps'), by doing this: english:spirit OR german:geist OR french:esprit.
