Is there a way to create a series of commentaries using volumes from different sets WITHOUT having to edit the series title and losing that original information?
Not to the best of my knowledge - a resource can only be in one series at a time.
Thanks - that's what I was afraid of. I'd love to put together a "super set" but don't want to change the data.
But can't you create a "collection" (give it your own name) and add a single volume from a commentary series (from multiple commentary sets) to 'create your own' personal set? I thought I read that just a few days ago here on the forums. I haven't tried it myself yet.

Customized Titles and Series have original value out of view. Deleting customized title OR series followed by pressing enter restores original value.
Personally added series abbreviation in title prefix, which allows me to filter library for original series that has volumes in custom Top 2. After March Madness 2018, now have 56 NICOT OR NICNT volumes with 36 of them in custom Top 2 series:
Screen shot shows library sorted by Type then series with filter for NICOT OR NICNT
FYI: my Top 2 titles have "=" instead of ":" so can identify Top 2 in open tabs (and Bible Explorer, Passage Guide, ...).

I'd like more information about your retitles, KS4J. Do you retitle the series, and the resource name, or is there more?

You can't change the data. You can only cover it up. If you type in a new series name, it'll show what you typed, but the original isn't lost. If you delete your custom name, the original reappears in its place.
I've changed series names to make my own (four, actually) super sets. The only drawback I can see is, I can't type in "series:pillar" (for example) and find all the Pillar commentaries. So when I change a commentary in a series, I tag that with the original series name so I can find all the (Pillar, say) commentaries if needed.
A long time ago I identified my top commentary I like for each book of the bible and I put all of them in the same series and removed them from the sets they belong too. Sometimes I have to change them out so I delete my series name and it restores the series to the set it belonged too. Then find the new commentary and add my series name to it. It's only 66 books or double that if you pick your two favorite commentaries for each book of the bible. Then my personal set I prioritize and when I run my reports the commentary I have chosen myself is always the first commentary in the report. I did the same thing with my bible dictionaries.
Ok, you set up, say, Matt66comm.
You need to change out the John comm + put in Zecnt John.
Does only oldJohn lose its Matt66comm designation...or, do all 66 lose Mat66comm, + thus you have to redo Matt66com 66 times for all the prized 66 comms?
Does only oldJohn lose its Matt66comm designation.
Yes. Change it in Resource Info (not Library) to be sure it is the only resource affected.
I really appreciate the time spent giving the answers above. I am currently renaming my commentaries using some of the info given. I want to rename then mostly so that when I look at the list of commentaries in a collection search, I can know instantly which commentary it is is rather than have to look at the picture or hover my cursor. When I'm finished, it hopefully will no longer be just Genesis, but a title that lets me know it's John Hartley's commentary on Genesis from the UBCS. I haven't seen a need to retitle the short title, but that may come in the future. Thanks again to all!
I am wondering, but not yet wandering, along these lines. I need to decide how much info in a name is too little, so, 6 months later, when a volume comes up in a search, I know what it is, rather than having to hover. I figure to do a few books on paper to see.
I am trying to figure out if I could just create 1 title: make it short only, or a hybrid short+, and still understand the shorthand later.
Thanks for the thread.

Passage Guide and Search Results show Title. Opening resources can cause switch from Title to Abbreviated Title in Tabs. Example Milestone Search (sorted by count) has three results in several resources, including John Harley's volume in UBCS:
deliberate WITHIN {Milestone <Ge22>}
Screen shot shows opening three resources from milestone search has Abbreviated Titles for two of them.
Some Commentaries have a short Title: e.g. Hartley's "Genesis" while other Commentaries have a longer Title: e.g. Boice's "Genesis, Volume 2: A New Beginning (Genesis 12–36): An Expositional Commentary" Longer Title has more opportunity for Abbreviated Title to show in Tab. Boice's volume has a default Abbreviated Title of "Genesis 12-36 (Boice)" that is longer than my convention: "1998BEC Ge v2"
If a resource does not have an Abbreviated Title, then Logos/Verbum creates one: e.g. "Matthew Henry’s Commentary on the Whole Bible: Complete and Unabridged in One Volume" becomes MHCWB:CUOV so personally prefer 1728MH along with Title: "1728 MH(Henry,et al): Matthew Henry’s Commentary on the Whole Bible: Complete and Unabridged in One Volume (1994)" that shows content creation circa 1728 that was published in 1994. Included "et al" since many contributed to completion of Matthew Henry's commentary after his human tent departure in 1714.
I am one of those who joined LOGOS from WORDsearch.
I am a church member who uses LOGOS for my daily devotions/Bible study and for writing my script (I used to work in radio) when leading our church satellite group on Sundays
What I have done is to set up my left-hand pane with all the Bibles I use regularly and the right-hand pane with the commentaries that use.
This seems to work for me.
Blessings from Yorkshire.
