I am amazed by how often a Logos user might make a suggestion (often in the ~SUGGESTIONS~ forum), and then has to be beaten down by one or more of his/her "fellow" users. Why is it apparently such an inflammatory act to suggest an improvement?
I could ~sort of~ understand it if the negative responses came from Logos developers (who would, after all, have the job of implementing and testing any approved suggested functional change). Sort of...
I maybe could ~sort of~ understand it if someone made a suggestion that would take away, disable, or otherwise negatively modify someone else's favorite way of doing something, or were to replace one of someone else's favorite resources (a pretty unlikely circumstance). However, usually suggestions would ~not~ do any of these things - most suggestions, I think, represent ~additions~ to functionality or ~additions~ to available resources.
I can see that, occasionally, suggestions could/should be questioned under some conditions. For example, a user might simply not be aware that his/her suggestion is redundant (the resource already exists, or the functionality is already easily available, etc.). However, sometimes it just seems as if some people feel they just have to shoot suggestions down, perhaps sometimes simply because the suggestions are not things that they are interested in.
OK, strictly from a competitive/selfish perspective, considering that anyone else's suggestion, if approved, might result in one or likely several Logos people spending time on someone else's wishes rather than devoting their efforts exclusively to ~my~ own precious wishes, then I suppose that ~I~ should selfishly shoot any such suggestion down, right? I guess...
Too often (and, I think, anytime it happens is one time too many), a user suggests "I'd like to do X", and he/she is answered with "Why don't you do Y instead, and be happy with it?". Or, "I'd really like to see Resource X available" is answered with "Well, that's a [too old][too basic][too unorthodox][too obsolete][too expensive][too just plain dumb] suggestion.". WHY?
(I know I'll regret bringing this up.)
