Logos 3 will not initialize

I am running Logos 3.0 on Windows XP. I just had to restore my OS today, but did not have to re-install all programs.

Logos 3 does not start up when I double click on it, even though the logo pops just like it does when the program is intiiating. However, then it does nothing.

Now, I do not have the install disk handy (it is in a box in storage, because we recently moved out of the US), though I do have the SESB disk (which I re-installed, just to see if it could get the program going. Then I re-booted, to no avail).

All the Logos files are still on my hard drive, and I have run the DLSSetup.exe from the Logos website.

Is there any way I can get Logos 3 going from either the files on my hard drive or something I can download, without having to have the original disk?

From what you were describing, it sounds like the Libronix logo is showing up in the middle of the screen and disappearing. If that is the case, follow the steps below.

Solution 1:

Check to see if Libronix is running in Compatibility mode:

Right-click on the Libronix shortcut on the desktop and click Properties.
Click on the Compatibility tab and make sure the box
Run this program in compatibility mode for: is unchecked. Also
make sure that all boxes under Settings are
unchecked.

Solution 2:

This problem can be caused by incorrect registry entries for the
Microsoft XML Parser. To fix the problem, you must register the MSXML4 component
manually:

In Windows XP or below:

Click Start > Run.
Type or copy and paste the line below, then click OK:
regsvr32
MSXML4.dll
A RegSvr32 message should pop up saying "DllRegisterServer in MSXML4.dll
succeeded." Click OK.

If the RegSvr32 message says it failed to register MSXML4.dll, or if Libronix
still does not open, the Microsoft XML 4.0 Parser may need to be installed:

Click here
to download the MSXML 4.0 SP2 installation file.
Select Run (or Open) when prompted.
Follow the prompts and click on Install Now in the Install
Shield Wizard to complete the installation.

Solution 3:

This problem can be caused by a conflict with another
application that uses the same toolbar program as Libronix. To fix the problem,
register the toolbar component manually:

In Windows XP or below:

Click Start > Run.
Type or copy and paste the line below, then click
OK:
regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Libronix
DLS\System\ActBar2.ocx"
A RegSvr32 message will pop up saying "DllRegisterServer in C:\Program
Files\Libronix DLS\System\ActBar2.ocx succeeded." Click OK.
Restart your computer.

Solution 4:

Rename User Preferences:

Open My Computer and navigate to C:\Documents and
Settings\username\Application Data\Libronix DLS\Library. If the
Application Data folder is not visible, you will need to change the
windows setting so you can see hidden folders:
- Click on Tools | Folder Options. Click on the
  View tab, select Show hidden files and
  folders, and click OK.
Right-click on the Preferences folder, choose
Rename, and change the folder name to
OldPreferences; press Enter.
Open Libronix. If it is performing properly, leave the new
Preferences folder and delete OldPreferences.
If the performance has not improved, close Libronix, delete the new
Preferences folder and rename OldPreferences back to its
original name.

Solution 5:

Follow the instructions to uninstall and reinstall
Libronix.
