I called the Tec. guys at logos and they said to post this here. I am very new to Mac and stitching over from years of PC use. I have the new macbook Pro and running parallels, it loaded and so far seems to run fine. the problem is that about %10 of my books did not transfer over. in the PC to PC world I just copied the resource file over and they would all show up . here there appears not to be a resources file to bring over, or I simply cant find it. I am using the Logos 4 and love it but I would like the entire library as you know I spent a ton of money on this library. any advice ?? THANKS

TERRY

What sort of books are you missing? Some multi-volume works are now counted as a single resource so this can cause a decrease in book counts. Also, Logos 4 does not read PBB files so these books will not show up in the new program.

assuming that the above does not fully account for your shortfall, here are some steps you can try in the Windows version running under Parallels.

The first step is that, in Libronix that has access to all your resources, syncronize your licenses. This will ensure that Logos' license server has everything.

The next step is to run the commands "Update Now" and "Update Resources" (Don't use the quotation marks. The latter may take a while) in Logos 4. Follow any instruction to restart Logos if anything downloads.

There are some old resources that Logos doesn't have permission to distribute via download. With Logos 4 you cannot just copy the resources into the resource folder like in Libronix. One must place these book files into a folder and then run the command "scan c:\path\to\books" and then restart Logos 4. Upon restart it will copy books from that folder into the hidden Logos 4 resource folder and index them.

If these steps don't work, please come back with more details on what is missing.

    Hi Terry,

Welcome aboard. Great to have a new Mac person join the ranks.

As you will know the Mac version is in Alpha at the moment - that's why the tech guys couldn't help you.

I take it your question refers to running the Mac Alpha on your MBookPro?

If it doesn't then all that follows should be ignored.  :-)

First make sure that you are using the very latest version of the Alpha - 19 or maybe even 19a by the time you read this.

Second in the command bar type "Update Resources" let the drop down menu fully populate and then click on the entry for Update Resources (don't just press return or enter).

Third restart Logos to prompt the command to take action.

    Terry:

First I would advise you to change your user name. As I have said for countless others, spammers know no bounds and even encroach upon these boards. directions on how to change your user name are here: Changing Forum Display Name

For clarification. Is your question in regards to Logos 4 on the Windows side in Parallels, or is it in regards to the Mac version of Logos 4 (Alpha 19)?

If he's running L4 through Parallels he's using the Windows version, not the Mac Alpha.
