Today I switched over from Win7 32 bit to a 64 bit OS. There is a significant difference in the way L4 runs in the 64 bit OS. I saw improvements when I went from Vista 32 bit to Win7 32 bit. The program responds faster in almost every area, especially in apllying visual filters and highlighting.

If you're running a windows OS other than Win7 64 and have the ability to upgrade you should give it a try.

You don't mention if you switched on the same machine or went to a new machine with 64-bit Win 7! The difference may well lie with other factors so can you provide a full description of the computer(s) ie. CPU/speed, RAM, HD size &RPM, video card memory/shared or onboard.

I updraded the same machine and made no hardware changes. It is a

    Toshiba Sattelite L305, 2.2Ghz, 160gb HD 5400rpm, 4gb Ram

I made the switch to 64 bit because I saw that I was only  using 2.87 Gb  of my installed memory under the 32 bit OS.  Under 64 bit I am using 3.87.

OK. A 64-bit system can also allocate more memory to a 32-bit app (2GB to 4GB). So I suspect these make enough difference, especially with other apps running.

I own an iMac, but I dual boot. For Windows 7 I'm running 64-bit Home Premium. I have 4gb of DDR3 RAM and 3.06g dual core Intel processor. L4 runs very very very very good.
