JUST ANNOUNCED - Logos VR 2018

Really? That's funny.
But you know what would really be nice? Using VR on some of the videos, such as "Inside the Tomb".

I just hardly see how that is possible.

Happy belated April Fool's Day?!

I'm sure this is a joke, but I have seen people tweeting about navigating a VR reconstruction of the temple in the last few days - I actually really liked the idea of that in Glo Bible a few years back - that wasn't VR - more like google streetview type navigation. But it could have been sorta cool. It wasn't actually that great in practice - partly due to internet speeds, partly due to fairly cheap CG images. But, y'know, interesting.

Brilliant... now I can finally feel like Tom Cruise in 'The Minority Report'! ;-)
Carpe verbum.

I have actually used my Sons VR headset with Logos already. It works great - apart form the normal steaming up inside the mask so I'm not sure it will allow us to see Gods word that clearly :-)

I thought Logos VR was all the commentaries we've already paid for that haven't been published.

It would be nice if FL would give us an update on this much delayed project, EEC.
Any thoughts about refunding our money on the items that have not been published or will never be published in our lifetime?

Well I think their original HOPED for estimate for completion was for 2023... that said I honestly do not think they have even the remotest idea when it will be done... Thomas Nelson I am sure thought WBC would be done a decade ago... but yet we still have have volumes left in the series to be done..... They obviously are having trouble finding the right people, some volumes have been a disappointment in my mind. I was a bit shocked to learn one volume was a rejected volume from by the NIC (why it was rejected and how much it got expanded for the EEC is something I don't know). The fine albeit flawed (unintended plagiarism) James volume rather than being fixed it was pulled (this may be proper protocol but for a primarily digital work I would have hoped corrections could have be made perhaps with an updated preface apologizing for the flaws of the first edition), thankfully another company has decided to release the corrected/updated volume and it may return to Logos under the new publisher. I am not trying to fault FL/Lexham Press it is a very big project and it's a learning curve to a project this big. But I fully understand frustration. During the MM sale price I decided to dive in (I had returned the set at release after being less than impressed over all by the Ezra/Nehemiah volume, but having volumes form sale I was impressed enough with James and 1-2-3 John to decide I was willing to invest my money to help see this series continues to get developed (stuck with it now anyway as repurchases are not eligible for the 30 day refund but my eyes were wide open and i think as long as the EEC is done in a reasonable amount of time I will be happy enough).

What was the price and discount during MM?
Thanks, Dale Heath

With the dynamic pricing for volumes I had already owned it was $533.19. I think it was a 40% discount.

Dan and Dale,
The NICOT/NT was started in the 1940's. On top of that, many volumes have been redone and some of them as many as three times and still more are to be published, with James coming out this month. I'm not let down at all by the set and quite frankly, in regards to plagiarism, I'm not quite sure the exact circumstances with the Varner volume with James. I did not "return" my volume and will not. I am familiar with the situation around Peter O'Brien and his various works; to be honest, with what he is admitting to (and the scholarly world seems content with) it is rather nitpicky, to put it politely. You'll never be able to remember where you learned everything you know, it's just about impossible.

Where does it say James’s volume is coming out this month? I think you meant Colossians, but maybe I’m missing something.

It's a Logos VR exclusive.

The conversation had switched to being about release dates for NICNT rather than EEC Dale, hence DAL's comment about Colossians being released this month.

DoC is correct! I was referring to NIC volumes 👍😁👌

You're correct. Colossians.

FF Bruce's work is 1984....is that why there is a new NICNT Colossians? Scot McKnight is 2018? I wonder how much is new and in what ways?
0 -
From what I can tell, a bunch of hippy stuff. McKnight thinks that Paul was pro-slavery, which I do not. He has essentially said there are many social issues that just were not addressed the same way they are addressed today back in 1984. I'm very glad I have the Bruce title and yes, I will buy the McKnight when it comes out here shortly. This might be one of those times where some old advice I received once might ring true: "the older the commentary the better." LOL!

I am well aware of that fact and indeed I mentioned WBC which still is incomplete (speaking particularly of the 1 Corinthian and Acts volumes that have never been published). The ICC was started in the late 19th century and is yet to be completed too. Why I believe Dale was expressing concern and rightly so is the length of time it is taking when the EEC was being sold as a set that would be hopefully done within about a 15 year release date, now that that time frame has been revealed as completely unrealistic with numerous volumes yet to even being assigned a scholar willing to take it on. I came back to the EEC well aware that a quick finish was not going to happen but with a belief that it was worth encouraging the project. None of us have a lease on life and indeed it is possible FL or Lexham Press will be no more long before this is done. I do believe God willing that it will be done sooner than later and I being only 44 should hopefully live to see it completed, but there are no guarantees beyond as is cynically said death and taxes, but as I believer I will add God's gracious love.

I started out with L1 on floppies and stayed with Libronix for many years. I was fairly new to the new Logos (L5) when I ordered the EEC and didn't understand that I was paying in advance for items that would not be completed in a timely manner. I am used to being charged for items when they ship. So, it's been several years now. Bob has always treated me with the utmost fairness. I'm now well over 80 and I'll bet that if I asked for a cancellation and partial refund, he would make it right. I'll give it some more time and when the time is right, bring it to his attention.
