BUG: Added Community Tag Not Showing in FactBook

I have added a community tag in a resource for William Tyndale https://ref.ly/logosres/biodctevng?hw=Tyndale%2c+William

However, when I open the Factbook for William Tyndale it does not show up in community tags:

However, if I highlight the community tag in the actual resource and right click and then click community tags in the contextual menu, the search retrieves the result.

Why is there the discrepancy?

Hmm that's weird, I can see them, Here let's try this again. The first image is the actual resource with the community tag. The second is the factbook entry that derives from that tag. The third is when you do the search community tags link from the factbook entry. The fourth image is if you do the community tag search from the contextual menu on the community tag entry in the resource itself.

It appears that two different community tags have been set up for William Tyndale:

one for the person - tagged as Biography
one as a Topic - tagged as "William Tyndale (Translator of the Bible and Reformer)"

The Factbook is showing information on the first - which is what appears in LBD and "131 Christians..."

A Topic Guide will show the second.

As they are separate tags only one appears in the Factbook.- while the other appears in the relevant Topic Guide.

Yes, but what is interesting is that it is pulling the topic in the Factbook which is what the tag is, should it not show those tags for the topic as well then? Or else, should we not be able to tag it with the biography tag since that is really what the resource we are looking at is?

Even though you see the Topic prompt in Factbook the actual Factbook entry shown is for the person so it makes sense for the biography community tag to be shown in that section.

Or else, should we not be able to tag it with the biography tag since that is really what the resource we are looking at is?

Now this is weird because when I type William Tyndale in the fact book, as in your screen shot, the only option that comes up is the topic, and not the person, which would be the expected behavior.

I only added the topic tag because when I searched for William Tyndale that was all that was available. I've never had the person tag available. The same is true if I try to do one for Hugh Latimer. Does Hugh Latimer show up for you as more than just a topic?

If I look for William Tyndale I just get the biography option

To get the Topic option I need to enter specific details

For Hugh Latimer I get the biography option

So the issue seems to be why you are getting the Topic Tag and not the Biography one.

FYI - I'm off from now but can pick this up again tomorrow unless you have resolved it by then.

I think that part of what is happening here is that the Biography tag has been merged with the Topic tag (as it should be). That's why Factbook is only showing one entry.

Although you think you're getting the Topic entry in Factbook and Community Tagging, generally, you're not. You're getting the Topic description mapped on top of the Biography entry. You can tell that by the icon that appears. The only place where you're genuinely getting the Topic entry is in the Topic Guide (again, as you'd expect).

It appears as though there are actually three tags in the BDE — two biographies and a topic. That appears to be a bug, as it appears from monitoring the data that there are only two tags.

As to why you can see the entry in some places but not others, I'm going to hazard the following guesses:

Community Tag search doesn't handle merged topics, and therefore only gives you the exact entry you searched for.
The index may take a little while to update. I'm seeing the entry in a search for Tyndale now.

To cut a long story short, I think the problem is that Topic/Bio merging doesn't reach into all the parts of Logos that perhaps it should.

That's correct: that mapping (which we call the Unified Annotation Vocabulary, or UAV) exists to combine things that are distinct (people have births and deaths: LCV concepts have dictionary content) but are "same enough" that it's useful to present their information together in Factbook. We currently have both Tyndale-as-concept and Tyndale-as-person linked together, and we're working through a backlog of others that should be unified but aren't yet (e.g. Martin Luther King Jr.).

David, is it possible that you're still on an earlier version? It looks to me like we updated the data for Tyndale to merge records in the last six months or so. The date on my version of the UAV database (under About Logos Bible Software) is Jan 19:
