Is it possible to have a tool bar that shows more than the home, library, search, file, guide and tools icons/options? Any  sort of 'custom' tool bar or such?

Yes. Right click on your current toobar, click customise, select new and create the toolbar you want. Once done, tick the box next to the toolbar you want to use.

You can find some custom tool bars from the old news groups and a recent addition of mine under the files forum.  I also have a toolbar that initiates other software I use in Bible study - applicable only to my environment obviously.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

I would love to 'right click' somewhere and get options. I have none. I simply have three icons: home, 'open book', and magnifying glass. Then, I have File, Guides, Tools, and Command option with Shortcuts. Refresh, Layouts, and help complete the menu bar. Again, no 'right click' option works for me. What/where/how can I find the expected tool bar options to be offered?
