iPad without Internet

I am using an iPad to write this post so don't think I have no Internet connection with my iPad although there are times that I do not in certain areas and I want to use Logos but can't. Is there any version you for offline use with the iPad. Paying for Logos is not an issue. I just want to be sure there is access to the software and it's tools offline before I spend anything. If not then I would have to say that is very inconvenient and should be reconsidered.

As with the iPhone, you can download resources and use them offline.

However, a number of the study features rely on the cloud so are unavailable when you're offline. Most especially this includes search.

The Startup page for logos must have two buttons. One that says "Work Online" and one that says "Work Offline"

This would stop the device (Ipod, Iphone, Ipad) from the unnessaccery task of trying to find a network regardless, which in my mind is stupid and highly annoying in my opinion. Thats why I do not use it anymore.

Sorry for my rant, but no one seems to listern at times.

Something else to be aware of in the present implementation of offline reading: the footnotes and cross-references (typically marked by superscript letters and numbers) in Bible texts are "not available" when offline. The one's I've tested include the NKJV, NASB, and ESV.

Don't know if or when that will be addressed. I hope it will be since I make heavy use of cross-references in Bible studies and I typically do not have a connection in those settings.

Although the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge still produces pop-up verses when read off-line, I don't think there is a way to chain it with a Bible in any sort of split screen approach (yet). I'm guessing these details will be worked out as time progresses.

You are right the footnotes are not available in the offline mode but Bible cross-references are. At least it works for me as I read a book offline. When I click the reference it shows the Bible text i the bubble and offers also link to go to the Bible to see the context of the reference. Of course I have my preferred Bible (ESV) downloaded to the iPhone.

There are some requirements in the App Store approval process that requires the app to look for the network rather than open as you're suggesting. It's actually a pretty fast process if done according to the template Apple provides. What are you experiencing? For me, when I'm offline, I don't notice it in terms of start-up time. In fact, I seldom realize I'm offline until I notice the yellow bar at the top of the screen...

That's certainly not what I'm seeing on the iPad. Unless I manually turn airplane mode on (so that Logos can immediately detect there is no connection), Logos stalls for ages on startup while the various parts of the home screen try to access the internet.

Hi Bohuslav,

I wonder if this is a difference between the iPhone and the iPad? When I'm using the ESV with airplane mode turned on (no connection), all superscripts in the ESV text indicate "Not available" when touched. This applies both to textual notes (numbers) and cross-references (letters).
