I have received the following error "Logos 4 Indexer has stopped working."

Let me explain what happened for me to get this error.  I have L4 on 2 computers: 1 online and 1 offline.  Since November I have taken any new resources and my license dat file from my online computer copied them to my offline computer with no problems.  This has allowed me to get my new resources on my offline computer.  However, after I purchased Summa Contra Gentiles and copied the resource and license dat file to my offline computer, I get the "Logos 4 Indexer has stopped working" message.  At the bottom of my computer the Logos icon says preparing library stage 2 of 3.  It proceeds no further until I close out the message then L4 opens up with no problems, but I do not have access to my new resource.

What is also interesting is if I replace the new license file with my older one (from April) I do not receive the error message.  I still do not have access to my new resource.

My online computer is XP and has the latest updates from Logos.  My offline computer is Vista and has the initial L4 release from last November.

I have tried typing "rebuild index" in the command bar, but my offline computer will not accept that command.  I have also tried deleting the library index folder, but that did not work either.

I plan on calling customer support tomorrow evening, but any help from the forums would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ron

Customer Support may not assist you with problems arising from
unofficial methods of updating ie. copying files.

The problem would stem from differing versions of L4 as some resources will only work with the latest version and you can expect the same with data files (licence) and documents. In the short term I would advise to remove the new resource & restart L4 with the old licence.

The pragmatic solution is somehow/anyhow get the Vista box online and update L4 + resources! That failing, see if Customer Support will let you download the necessary installation files + updated licence file to the XP computer so you can copy them to Vista and then install. Unfortunately Logos make it difficult to get all, or the latest, installation files even though theoretically they should be located at C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\Logos4\Install.

I will probably see if I can get my Vista computer online.

Is there anything I need to do like typing a specific command in the command box to ensure that L4 is completely updated?

This only needs to be temporary eg. moving it to a place with a network connection.

Just allow Auto Update to work or use Update Now.
