Two Searching Questions

I have two quick questions about searching in Logos, both specifically regarding a project i am working on now:

Is there a way to search for every time Gentiles are mentioned or the theme of Gentiles is discussed in the book of Luke? I figured out how to search for the word Gentile specifically, but I was wondering if there is some sort of tagging system where I can see all the passages that discuss Gentiles, without maybe using the word.

Is there a way to generate a list of every character from a particular book? I'm sure the data is somewhere, I just can't find it.

It depends on what package you have / which features you have available.

If you are able to do <Person> searches then this is a good option.

And to generate this type of search - you can right-click on the word Gentiles, scroll down the right-hand side of the "context menu" until you get to the Person entry and then click "Search -> this resource" on the left

Note that also gives a number of different options - <Person Nation> or the "sense" of "gentiles" (just above Nation) and it's worth trying these searches as well. They are all tagged slightly differently and give different results.

If you wish, you can then combine them to get something like this

If you have access to the Bible Browser Tool, you can browse for them

Is there a way to generate a list of every character from a particular book? I'm sure the data is somewhere, I just can't find it.

In the context menu above you may have seen the LN number - this is a coding for different categories of information. And the coding for people is 93.* (you can find this by right-clicking on a person's name and seeing the LN number for that person). Then you can search for all LN numbers in that range (and checking the Louw-Nida lexicon shows there are 388 of them. So we get

Alternatively, if you have the Concordance Tool, you can browse for them that way

In the above, I'm aware I haven't really provided details of how to do these searches - as it depends on which features you have access to.

So if anything doesn't make sense or you need more details please post back
