This seems like a basic question, but I can not figure it out or find an answer. When working with multiple commentaries & Bibles I like to link texts to a primary Bible. I want this primary Bible to dictate what everything else turns to. I don't want the primary Bible to adjust when I scroll through a commentary or other resource in the link set; I want it to "push" to the other resources and not be affected by them when they change. I hope my phrasing makes sense. Is there a way to do this?

Welcome to the forums, Breandan!

The feature you're asking about is called Multiview. It will let you view other texts alongside your primary bible. As you asked, these other texts will scroll along with your primary bible, but your primary bible won't adjust when you scroll through the other texts.

Thanks for the help! I tried searching the forums to no avail. I don't think I know how to search the forums well. Plus, it kept routing me to an error page. Anyway, I appreciate the response!

The most effective way to search the forum is to pose the question and let forum users search their memory banks for where they saw the answer. The forum's standard search function leaves a lot to be desired.

I just transitioned to Logos from WordSearch. What Breandan is describing is exactly what I would like to do. While reading through a Bible text, I want the commentaries and other resources to follow. But when or if I scroll through a commentary, I don't want to lose my place where I was reading. I don't want the text to follow the supporting resource. WordSearch calls it the "group driver".

Another request is related in that it involves multiple resources, but may belong in another post:

In the "multiple resource display", it currently uses the cntrl + left or right arrow to move to the next resource in the chosen list. It would be much friendlier to have a left and right "button" to move through the list of resources, and to just skip past those that have no relevant content. This works, and then (at least up to this point), it doesn't work. All of the resources that I had picked didn't seem to be on the list any longer. And when I reached the end (all the way to the right), it wouldn't go all the way back to the left. I hope that makes sense.

Also, when choosing which resource are to be on the list, it would be nice to be able to see them as "available resources" in a box to one side, and the selected resources in a box to the other side. (Again referencing the way WordSearch is set up)

If anything here is unclear, I'll be glad to continue the dialog,

I am seeing that Logos has a lot of additional features that I look forward to exploring, such as having a way to track reading in any of the other many books in the library.

For example, to add the New International Version (2011) as a guest resource, type New International or NIV and that Bible will appear at the top of the list.

To add the desired resource to the panel, click the checkbox next to the resource name. It will go to the upper section of the menu, which will populate with all added resources.

At the very top of the Multiple Resources menu, click the checkbox next to Show multiple resources: to enable and disable the feature while maintaining the list of desired resources. This is the same behavior as using the above keyboard shortcuts for toggling the feature.

You are speaking here of parallel resources -- from your description I'm uncertain whether you are reporting a bug or requesting a feature.

For "This works, and then (at least up to this point), it doesn't work." I am not certain what you are referring to. You may be referring to the changing milestone when a resource doesn't have a corresponding milestone. That will go away when you are using the appropriate tool (multi-view panel) rather than parallel resources. If that is not what you mean, then please provide an example.

The advantage of the Logos saved collections is that you only select the resources once for a particular task and then use it for years and you may have many of these collections for various tasks. For those of us with large collections, this is essential. The Word Search method works best with small libraries and the selected resources rarely repeating. Again, to add this option, make a suggestion in Roadmap | Faithlife and try to gain support here in the forums.

Please keep posting and asking questions. The forum users generally have a variety of "best practices" depending on the emphasis of their work using Logos. They can help you through the forest of features.

Logos 7 included => New Feature: Multiview Resources (Tool) where changing location in "host" resource is sent to "guest" (MultiView) resource(s) for location change, but scrolling any "guest" resource does not change "host" location, which is different than a link set where changing location in any resource is sent to all other resource(s) in the link set.

FWIW: Faithlife forum software suggests existing posts per comments. In this instance, Link Text thread in Logos 7 was suggested although Logos 7 & Verbum 7 were no longer supported as of 28 May 2019 (superseded by newer Logos 8 & Verbum 8, which have also been superseded by Logos 9 & Verbum 9). Follow-up dialog idea could be in the currently supported Logos 9 Desktop App (humanly guessing Logos 9 & Verbum 9 becoming unsupported sometime after Mar 2023 as major releases currently are two years.

I am seeing that Logos has a lot of additional features that I look forward to exploring, such as having a way to track reading in any of the other many books in the library.
