You're no doubt aware that indexing is causing a lot of people grief - unnecessarily, in my view. Nevertheless, it's a very frequent topic in the forums.
Here's a few improvements that I think would really help:
- Prevent computers from hibernating/suspending/turning off if indexing (unless running on batteries, of course).
- If indexing is interrupted and has to restart, display a balloon which explains what has happened, and advise the user to not switch of until it's been completed.
- Add an option on the right-click menu to shutdown the computer once indexing has completed.
- Lower the priority setting of indexing so that it's at least possible to use your computer whilst indexing is taking place.
- Fix the time remaining pop-up, which is notoriously inaccurate.
- Add a 'help' option on the right click, which links to a web-page so that people can understand indexing better.
