users experiences with 2in1 laptops running Logos

I currently have Logos running on a PC and Android phone. A laptop/tablet format is my next step in productivity. I have read and acknowledge the current status of Touchscreens in the Logos Uservoice forum but would like to here of users overall experiences with these small nimble laptops - not just the MS Surface but other similar ones as well.

I would be purchasing a 2in1 in faith that Logos will soon support it more completely.

I have the Acer Spin 5 with a15.6 inch screen since last November.

I like the touch screen but I am not sure how much advantage it has compared to having not.

I added the Hebrew and Greek and some other keyboards. The screen shows the keyboard and I can directly type. I feel this is the main advantage currently, but I'll probably learn more.

I use it mostly when I am not at home: at the University or in my log cabin.

I use it in PC mode.

It also has the tablet mode but rarely use it. Probably will use when reading during a longer trip in an airplane or so.

You already saw earlier comments. AFAIK, Logos has never really commented. Indeed, even on the Logos mobile, the handling of touch is worse than the desktop. The culture at Logos is definitely early 90s ... fascination with a mouse. But Bibleworks was mid-80s, so I suppose the Bible software industry is progressing smartly.

I've used a Dell combo for a long while. The trick is in the quality of the manufacturer's driver support. How touch is interpreted and ability to tailor. Plus, if you have the addition of stylus support. Having both makes the question of 'Logos' irrelevant (I have both). In my tailoring, I have touch to do the broad tasks (scrolling, activating, etc) and the stylus to do the detailed tasks (highlighting,etc). And the same for other apps (Finale, synths, etc).

Well, I am not using them in this 2in1, I just use those provided for Windows 10 by Microsoft.

In my old desktop with Windows 8 I think I have tried the Coptic and Syriac from Logos, but cannot check that now. I have also the IPA keyboard from SIL in that computer, but it does not work very well...

I have an HP Spectre 13" 2 in 1 with a 512 SSD. It is blazing fast. I have found that I don't use it as much as I thought as a tablet - just too big/heavy in many situations. However, while LOGOS needs to better implement touch technology, I still like it when I have the space for reading. Without the stylus, I'm not sure that I would feel the same, but I highlight a lot, and the stylus works quite well along with finger touch for some things.

When at my desk, I connect it to 2 large monitors and a bluetooth keyboard/mouse so it is the best of all worlds. Note: I have discovered I use it mostly at my desk in traditional PC mode. Out and about I still use my IPAD.

Note: The advantage to a 2 in 1 PC is that you have everything (files, other programs, etc.) and full capability of all the software. Worst case you can just use it as a traditional PC instead of a tablet.

Thanks, Veli for your feedback and the subsequent dissemination of your insights to others. That is exactly what I had hoped a topic like this might generate.

I note you are using a 15.6" screen. I am thinking of a sweet-spot of around 12 to 12.5" with the reasoning that a larger screen gets into laptop territory (I have a laptop I could use for not so mobile situations). Also, if I use it at church it isn't much bigger than a bible - and I'm more likely to make it part of church pew kit. I'm picking the Spin is quite light and manageable though?

Thanks for your input Denise. I will note the driver support issue when I get to the buying choices.

I have a couple of 2in1 candidates so will summarise and add info in due course.

I'm living in Australia so models may be a bit irrelevant and will date quickly anyway. I'm more interested in Makers approaches to the 2in1 concepts and how they improve the Logos/Bible study area.

Yes, that's my feeling. I carry it in a reasonably small rucksack. It is lightweight and thin. The battery lasts quite long. It is useful when I listen to lectures, because it has the keyboard.

I am thinking to buy Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 to replace my 4 year old Asus Nexus tablet. The S4 is expensive and I still wonder do I really need it? The screen is 10.5 inch in S4. If I had a 12 to 12.5" 2/1 unit maybe there would be no need for the tablet.
