Speedy Logos : quad-core vs. memory boost

I'm in the market for a new computer. Anyone have thoughts on whether I get a quad-core MacBook OR stick with a dual-core, but with increased memory. So,

do I spend $1799 on the new 13 MacBook w/ Touch Bar 2.3GHz quad‑core 8th‑generation Intel Core i5 processor ?

spend $1699 on the non-Touch Bar 13 MacBook 2.3GHz dual-core 7th-generation Intel Core i5 processor (bumped up to 16 GB memory)

Any thoughts?

Logos certainly doesn't need 16GB of memory but it depends what else you are running at the same time. I certainly couldn't survive with less than 16 (I have 24 and am currently using 11 and am hardly doing anything). Logos does push the processor at times but not regularly so again it depends what you are doing at the same time and how you feel about waiting.

In L7 Windows version Logos seems to use one core only. When indexing, it might use second core since indexing is fast.

I have a surface pro 3 w/ an i5 and 8gb of ram and Logos has been running a lot slower recently. Especially when I have a few visual filters selected or I go to Atlas. I don't know if that is a Ram thing or a Processor thing so I'd say go with the $1799. Future proof yourself

I recently replaced my 1T HDD with a 1T SSD on an old desktop SATA II 8GB memory, 2.9 AMD processor, native shared graphics. It improved my Logos performance tremendously. My startup of Logos desktop went from several minutes to 26 sec. and indexing from forever to a short very few minutes. Of course everything else ran faster too. $150 on Prime Day. I will never purchase another computer with an HDD.

My SSD is only 61% full. The more free space, the better the performance. 20% minimun.
