Android App: Chronicle of an endless letdown
It's been several years of hitting the wall with this app, asking Faithlife to do something about it, and it just goes on. And I know I am not alone.
I don't know whether the Android app was designed with rich people in mind who can be online on mobile networks while in church or in home small groups. For the rest of us, church = a place where we do not have connectivity. As a result, the app is nothing more than a reader. It is frustrating to have all those tools (search, passage guide, info) when none of them works or works properly offline.
Every time I am in church and I want to interact with the Word, look up something, I have to renounce. It is maddening. What is worse is knowing all along that there are much less complicated Bible apps out there that apparently can do it. I'd use one of them if I had not all my resources in Logos.
Honestly, at this point I am writing this with not much of an expectation to be heard and that something will change. But it's like what they say, you can't win a draw if you don't participate in it however low the odds of winning are.

I hear you, Francis. And not just offline access, in many ways Logos for Andriod feels a lot like iOS poor cousin. Despair the screen being so much smaller, I'll often default to using Logos on my iPhone rather than my Android device because it is faster, slicker and generally better all around.

Given the lack of response, I think I might need to look at competition.

In all seriousness, if you feel that strongly, I'd email Bob directly. His email is easy enough to find.

Francis, I know your frustrations with the Android App, but I guess churches I have attended over the last decade have picked up that connectivity is important. All of the churches have a guest wifi connections to where my Logos tools are available.
Maybe these churches are in the minority but it has becoming increasingly prevalent.

I know that must be frustrating Frances. You do have some good alternatives out there that can get the job done. Maybe just buy the bare minimum resources to do the kind of study you want in Olive Tree or Accordance mobile until Faithlife sees the light. But I don't think they will change their app any time soon to make these more advanced features available offline. But thanks for writing this. I write app reviews and often forget about this as an issue to judge the app. I should keep it in mind more often.

Certainly some things should be available offline such as searching for a reference or searching your downloaded resources

I have a 'Wi-Fi' only tablet but in the absence of WiFi in the Church find tethering my phone works reasonably well.
