Can I trust the citation style?

Right now all my academic papers must follow MLA for citation. I have my LOGOS set to this citation style, but am wondering if it is correct and trust worthy.

Here is an example- A Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament and Other Early Christian Literature, 3rd ed. [BDAG]

The citation looks like this:

Arndt, William et al. A Greek-English lexicon of the New Testament and other early Christian literature 2000 : n. pag. Print.

Is this correct?

Logos provides the best fit it can to a particular style. For papers, you should always proof read for yourself. I remember getting dinged for different transliterations - both inside quotes !!

I wouldn’t trust it. I would double check based on the type of source just to be sure. I think it will for the most part be correct but I have caught slight errors before that I wouldn’t have seen unless I double checked against a style guide

If you happen to use any Faithlife ebooks (as opposed to resources purchased through the Logos.com site) I would highly recommend checking each citation. Many (most?) of the Faithlife ebooks don't have page numbers or are missing other bibliographic data. Depending on your citation style, you will need to fill in/adjust the missing information (c.f. section 17.1.10 Electronic Books of Turabian 9th edition).

Faith Life definitely should work on this... seems to be an easy fix (?). When it is supposed to be "doing all the heavy lifting for me..." then I have to comb thru to make sure the citations are in correct format...

It's not an easy fix. The issue is usually not the code but the data. Over the years, there's been variation in the metadata used in this section, and it shows.

It's useful, and close to being accurate, but I'm afraid you can't rely on it 100%.

For academic papers you should double check all data derived from Logos. Think of Logos as an undergraduate assistance combing through the data for you ... it still takes a thinking, trained, logical mind to sift through the data.
