Removing Popular Highlights from books

I appreciate this feature, but on coursebooks it ends up highjacking my learning (since I can tell what the answer is because people highlighted it already). How do I turn it off?

It is a visual filter. See the choices under the "three circles" icon.

That works if it is a book. On a course, the highlight is there and the option to remove popular highlights is not even available.
I thought if I removed from the course's text it would work, but I have done so, and it is still showing.

I have not used a course before, so I am probably not much help.
How did you attach a screen shot? Did you take a screen shot and use the paperclip icon? It is really low res and I don't see any highlights.

Yes that is how I updated it. Can you see the little grey lines with a grey highlighter beside it? That's the popular highlight feature.

Not really. Your screen shot is very low res (at least on my computer). When a forum member attached a screen shot it is typically "clickable" (see below) which will provide a larger image. Your screen shot has not been attached properly. Use the paperclip icon (again, see screenshot).
This website may be a help if the method you use to create a screenshot is low res: https://www.take-a-screenshot.org

Yep, what you are describing is exactly what I did. But why not upload it again? Here it is (and I make sure to zoom in, just in case):
Now, any idea on how to remove popular highlights from a course?

Open HB101 Introduction to Biblical Hebrew (Activities) (the resource) from your Library. In the resource panel, use the Visual Filters toolbar icon to turn off Popular highlights.
Once you do this, they will disappear in the Courses Tool, too. (You may have to close and reopen the Courses Tool for it to take effect.)

You are the bomb! Thank you!

I just got Logos 8, am beginning the BI101 course, and find the popular highlights distracting, and want to hide them. But the "Visual Filters" button you show above is not there! Either in the Courses Tool, or just opening the course itself directly, there is NO "Visual Filters" button in this course. Is there another way to hide these distracting underlines, or a way to make that button appear?
Thanks!

Yes - go to Program Settings under Tools

Thanks for the reply!
I just went there, and I see nothing about highlights at all. I see "Show Community Ratings," and "Show Community Tags," but both of them seem exclusively to apply to books in the library. Is there something in the Program Settings that I am misunderstanding?

My apologies. It is on the resource visual filters menu see New Feature in Logos 5: Popular Highlights

Yes, but Charles' point about is the visual filters button isn't showing for this particular course.
It seems strange to me but I don't have access to the course to check further.

Well, first, I apologize. I just tried again opening the BI101 course without the Courses Tool, and this time the Visual Filters button IS there! I honestly am positive it just wasn't there before, but after closing and re-opening Logos 8, now I see it.
However... under Visual Filters, there is no Resource item for "popular highlights!" Under Resource, there are
- Community tags
- Corresponding words
- Emphasize Active Lemmas
- Emphasize Active References
- Timeline Events
Of those, only "Timeline Events" was checked. There was a separate section, NOT under "Resource," for "Notes and Highlights," but they all were various places that my own highlights were stored, and none of them were about "popular" or "community."
So, now I do seem to have the Visual Filters button, but there's no "Popular Highlights" in the list. Any ideas?
Thanks!

That typically happens for resources that don't have any Popular highlights
In Bradley's screenshot above - showing the popular highlights - he was looking at the Activities resource associated with the course. Which resource are you looking at?

Oh, for crying out loud! I apologize to all who've generously tried to help me!
I was reading the BI101 course in the "Course Tool," and the "Suggested Reading" texts were not links, but just text, as if they were part of the course. When I opened up the course itself outside of the Course Tool, I saw how these "Suggested Readings" were links to resources outside of the course. The one I had been reading in the Course Tool with the "popular highlights" that I found so distracting was NOT part of the course, then, but was an excerpt from the Baker Encyclopedia of the Bible that had been incorporated by the Course Tool into the flow of the course, and I hadn't realized it was a different resource altogether. Now I know to disable "popular highlights" in the BEB.
I apologize for my confusion and leading some of you on a wild goose chase! Thank you for your kindness in trying to help me.

Hey, wild goose chases are often more fun than the standard problem ...[E]

If you want to disable Popular Highlights everywhere, there's a downwards-pointing triangle all the way to the right of the menu item in the VF menu. That pops up a second menu which lets you turn them off in all resources.

Bradley, this is wonderful news!!!! Just having trouble finding it. What is the VF menu?

It is the menu accessed by clicking the three dots (triangular) icon that Bradley has highlighted in his screenshot above.

Never mind, I found it! Duh! Haven't had a chance to play with everything yet, due to school and teaching! Thanks SO MUCH for adding this.

That's VERY handy -- thanks for pointing that out!
I find the "popular highlights" quite distracting, for some reason, and I've turned them off again and again in different individual resources. I just now turned them off in ALL resources, thanks to your tip. Many thanks!
