Crash

none of the mobile apps go beyond the start up screen, ebooks, verbum, Faithlife Study Bible. Only the Logos Next app opens.

New Verbum app crashes on start up on iPhone 7+ and iPad Pro ios 12.0.1

Kenneth and Bruce, sorry to hear that. Could you please try going to the iOS settings app, and then find the app name in the list (i.e. Logos Bible, Verbum, etc) and try toggling the "Reset Workspace" icon on and see if that resolves the issue?
[EDIT] I think we've found the issue, doing a reset of the workspace will likely not work, however installing the app from scratch should (hopefully). We're working on a fix and hope to submit an update to Apple before the end of the day.

Reset Workspace didn’t work. I will wait for the fix.

Same issue here with Study Bible. Resetting the workspace did not prevent the startup crash.
0 -
Same with me. Only The Bible App (english) and Faith Life TV is working.
Biblia (the Spanish App), Faith Life Study Bible, and the Ebook app do not open.
I tried the "reset work space" but that did not fix the problem.

Thanks for the reports.
We have submitted an expedited fix to Apple.

Add mine to the list of crashing on start. Wish I never updated 😞

I have an ipad mini 4 running the latest ios and my app keeps crashing as well. It loads up, thinks for a bit and then crashes. Do i really need to do a clean install to fix this?

Should I wait for the fix or do the uninstall and reinstall on my iPad? I have a lot of resources downloaded and reinstalling is a pain plus I'd lose my devotionals so I don't want to pull that trigger unless I have to... Thoughts Todd?

On a weird side note the crash bug never appeared on my iPhone 7 but it is showing its ugly head on my iPad

For the non-Logos Bible apps, unfortunately a re-install will not resolve the issue. We have an update submitted to Apple and have requested an expedited review. Sorry for the inconvenience, hopefully that update will be available soon.

i wish you posted that sooner. I reinstalled an hour ago (and it crashed again).
Now I have to reinstall my library after the updated app is sent to Apple.

What do you mean by non-logos app? My logos app on my iPad keeps crashing. Should I reinstall or wait for update? Can I avoid reinstalling?

i tried reinstalling Verbum and it still crashes. I’d recommend waiting until we hear something else so you don’t have to reinstall your library like I will.

Mattillo, sorry if I wasn't clear. There is a known issue of crashing on startup for Verbum, FSB, Biblie, eBooks apps. We've submitted an update to Apple to address that issue. There are also some other fixes in there that I _think_ you might be hitting based on looking at some of our crash reporting. But to clarify, is your Logos Bible app crashing intermittently, or every time on startup?
We're also looking into a way of possibly getting you access to the version that Apple is reviewing before it is released in the App Store as a stop-gap measure.

My logos Bible app on my iPad mini crashes within 10 seconds of start up. iPad mini 4 running the latest iOS ... Oddly enough it doesn't crash on my iPhone 7. And yes this happens every time. I've tried the old reboot but that didn't work. The only thing I haven't tried was reinstalling the app which I fear to do because of all the books I have downloaded but if that is what I have to do let me know. But from what I take above, you don't have an update planned for the main Logos Bible Study app that addresses my crashing issue?
I should also note that this is a 128gb ipad that isn't even half full so memory shouldn't be an issue

There is an updated Logos Bible app in review, and it does have additional fixes that I think might resolve your issues on the iPad. I suspect the difference between the iPad and iPhone are related to which resources are open, and the problem might be related to visual filters.
You could try going to the main Apple settings app, finding the Logos Bible app (towards the bottom of the list), and turning on "Reset Workspace" on the iPad.

Thank you Todd. I left my iPad at home today since it wasn't usable but I'll try that when I get home. If it helps I didn't have any other apps opened when I tried to run the new Logos app (closed them all by swiping up). I know you have no control over Apple but when do you think the new update will hit the iStore? Also, do you think reinstalling would fix the issue?

Unfortunately I don't have any idea of gauging Apple's response time. In the past we've been able to get a 1 day turnaround, so we are hopeful for later today.
In your case, I don't believe a re-install would help, so I would hold off.

Thank you Todd! If it helps I've seen this behavior with other apps on my iPad since iOS 12. One of them that comes to mind is the CrossExamined app made by SubSplash. Same behavior of crashing on load up w/in 10 seconds.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for the update and pray [:D]

Resetting the workspace did NOT work

For me, the only App on iOS 12(12.1) that I've had any issues with is Faithlife eBooks. It won't open. I've reset workspace and reinstalled the app twice from scratch.

Currently using the Logos app with only my essential daily resources until Verbum‘s fix is done.
(EDIIT) Now this app is starting to crash too on downloaded resources when operating on airplane mode.

I apologize for the delay in shipping the updated versions of the apps that we believe will fix the majority of the crashes. We are at the mercy of Apple in this regard.
As a workaround, we are providing a way to install the pre-release versions of the app via TestFlight, which is Apple's supported method for beta testing apps. To get the pre-release version, go to the AppStore and install the TestFlight app. Then, on your mobile device, follow one of the links below to install the pre-release version. Once the app is officially released in the AppStore, we recommend updating the app from the AppStore, unless you want to continue to receive and test pre-release versions. The pre-release versions will only work for about 90 days before they will no longer start.
Again, we apologize for the issues, and hope this helps.

Hi Todd,
FSB works again for me. Many thanks for providing a fix through this way.

I think I’ll just use the Logos app until Verbum is fixed. No point in downloading the beta if I’ll have to reinstall the library when the final app gets approved.
Vexing that they’re so slow, but as I understand it, this is out of your hands.

Reinstalling and and selecting 'Reset Workspace' make no difference. Verbum 8 just doesn't work. I tried Logos 8 was better but eventually crashed, perhaps because I tried to change the text size and go to two columns. Have not bothered to reload.
Verbum iOS was fine yesterday. When I tried this evening just crashed., The only difference is that I upgraded to MacOS Verbum 8 yesterday.

David, there is an issue with the current Verbum 8 app, we are expediting a review with Apple, but we have to wait for them. Did you attempt to install the pre-release via TestFlight as outlined earlier in this thread?

I tried the Test Flight beta app and you need a code to start it up. I am waiting as well. Hoping it will be available before Bible study tonight but looking doubtful.

Any issues with the Logos app? Or might we see that in a day or two

Same here on the hoping post though I have a group to lead on Sunday... Fingers crossed it gets fixed by then! I haven't tried the test flight though

The new app in test flight is working well.

I don’t have access to the Code to get it working though.

There is no need for a redeem code in TestFlight. Once TestFlight is installed on your device, you should just have to follow one of these links (from your mobile device) to install the app from TestFlight.

I was on the Logos app beta and successfully installed 8.0.1 on both iPad (mini) and iPhone (SE). So far they seem stable. Thanks for the quick fix.
Still waiting for the other apps to officially become available. Trying not to have too many apps on beta... as I understand once you're on beta you can't get out of that (please confirm).
Thanks,
Peter

I did after posting. Verbum 8 beta ran for about 10 minutes and then crashed when I tried to a download. I'll wait for the fix.

I was going to install test flight but it wanted to install over my current app. Will it erase everything if I do? How do I update to the stable app after the fact if i go with test flight?

Your settings and downloaded resources will likely remain. Once the regular version comes out, you can install it like any normal update from the app store.

Thank you Armin. Hopefully the update will be live today if not I'll try the test flight route

Updates for Biblia, Logos Bible and Verbum have been approved by Apple and should be available in the AppStore soon. We are still awaiting approval for the FSB and Faithlife eBooks apps.

Todd I installed the 8.0.1 update from the app store and my ipad mini is still crashing on startup. Tried numerous times
iPad mini model MK9N2LL/A
iOS 12.1
I tried to reset the workspace as well
EDIT: I also tried rebooting my iPad and installing the testflight version just in case they were different. The first startup it stayed open but froze. Force closed it and now it crashes as startup again [:'(]

I finally caved and installed the testflight version but that one crashes too. I sent the logs to Kevin Byford but looking at the log it doesn't really say much except my device info.
I know the ipad mini can't install or run any apps with AR features. Could that be something related to the crashing here?

The TestFlight and the AppStore versions of 8.0.1 are the same.
To recap, working fine currently on your iPhone but not our your iPad? This may be related to which resources are downloaded on the device. I'll be looking through our crash reports, but re-installing the app may help.
