Undisciplined reference boxes that know better than I

Hi,

I have my bible study open with the passage guide in the left column, a set of bibles in the centre column and a couple of commentaries in the right column.

None of the columns are set to 'follow' or are 'linked'. (If you use links you loose your place and eventually your mind)

However notwithstanding all this; my chosen section for the Passage Guide is John 14 : 8-27 but can I get the passage guide to stick to that reference? I cannot!! Whenever I turn my back (figuratively) it jumps to John 14 : 25-27.

I have tried the usual, blu-tac, writing on the screen with marker pen, etc. but to no avail.

Is there anyway to lock the Passage Guide to the reference that I want rather than the one it thinks I should have?

Mike I do this by linking the PG to the passage of my choosing in my preferred Bible (NIV - Anglicised) I have another copy of the NIV open which I use for "jumping about". That way my PG stays put.

Thanks for the tip, I will give it a go. I too have a floating panel on the second monitor with a 'jumping about' bible sitting there.

However I am still bemused by the fact that an unlinked pain of a pane will not stay put. If I had a dog like that I would shoot it!

That has happened to me on a couple of occasions. I just close and relaunch. Solves the problem for me.

I may be behind the curve and forgive me if this is abundantly clear but I haven't' seen either you or Alan explicitly stating this. Was your second bible opened to a size which one can actually see all of John 14:8-27? I noticed that when my bible window was too small and I would try your citation it would come up with the same result. I think it is because the pane is too small.

To my chagrin I had to look up "behind the curve" I couldn't remember it derivation.

In answer to your specific question... I only had one bible open (NIV) though there are other tabs in the Bible Pane.

The recalcitrant reference is in the passage guide pane - which only has the commentaries section open.

The Bible shows from John 14 : 7 through to 15 : 5.
