I'm getting a completely blank guide about 1 in 3 times and the only way to populate it is to close it and try again.
Platform? Are you indexing? Syncing? ... my first suspicion is a resource/timeout time issue.
When you say blank, is this after you enter a verse in the reference box an hit enter?
I am experiencing the same issue. Plus, when I enter a Bible text in the search box, the various resource searches default to expanded (which slows the search results significantly).

It is when the layout loads from typing in the command box. However typing the verse into the guide itself and hitting enter results in nothing. I'm not indexing and I am using v8 on a 2017 macbook pro with mojave.
Dennis, regarding the PG opening expanded see this post for a possible work around. The bug has been reported.

As for the blank PG, I will have to let someone who reads the logs assist.

I am still using High Sierra and always open the guides from the menu or have them in a saved layout. I will play with opening them from the command line to see if I can replicate. Hopefully Randy or someone can read your logs and advise you.
