TIP: Unleash the potential of "Important Passages"
Important Passages is a new feature of L8 which can be found in the Passage Guide or used in a custom guide.
It is useful in different ways, but there is one aspect of its use that I find really exciting and would like to bring attention to:
The tool allows the user to view important passages by types which may be what one may desire to do. However, what I find the most exciting is to set it to "All Types" and then sort it "By Rank". This will generate a list of passage from top rank to bottom that have the most in common with your source passage across the various categories of overlap (mentions in commentaries, lexica, shared concepts, etc).
This provides us with the most intelligent cross-referencing system we have to date because it does not simply look at one criteria but at multiple types of connections. In other words, we can find cross-references that we would probably not find if we were just using one criterion or because it would be too tedious to do a manual multiple criteria search ourselves.
Interestingly, running it on OT passages also looks at Greek lemmas.
