HOW do you create a new notebook?
I've tried chat to get an answer to this and they were totally unhelpful. I've checked all your training articles and none of them tell me how to do this, just that I can do it. I need to start a new notebook. How in the world do I create one?

No it doesn't because there is no little + sign on my program. I have the little search (magnifying glass) icon, but there is only a box to enter in the search information, no + sign....

Very strange.
Are you sure you clicked the Notebooks icon first?
In the notes "view" you just see the magnifying glass icon.
Are you able to post a screenshot (using the paperclip icon) to show what you are seeing?

Are you using the paperclip icon in the forum editor?

Hi. This thread doesn't seem to inform me in Logos 8. I'm having the same trouble creating a new notebook, and I see no "notebook" icon, no "plus sign", and no option to put a note into a new notebook (the only option is to move to a different notebook or remove it from all notebooks). Please help! This used to be so self-explanatory, but I've been looking for 10 minutes and can't find it!
Thanks.

Actually, I just found it! It's in "+" and select "new note document."
The confusing part is that "note document" doesn't mean the same thing as "notebook", but in the program, they're apparently the same thing. So when I'm looking to add a new notebook, I kept looking for the word "notebook"!
Perhaps this is something that the developers could look into. Pretty confusing.

That’s strange as the thread is about L8
Did you follow the steps outlined at https://community.logos.com/forums/p/174005/1004753.aspx#1004753?
If so, please post a screenshot showing what you see

Sorry - but where are you doing this?

I see it now. Thanks.
Still, isn't that also a bit too deeply hidden? I mean three clicks of icons that we're supposed to intuitively know? I'm not the only guy who couldn't find it, so it's not as intuitive as it's supposed to be. There's used to simply be a button that said "new notebook."
Or maybe it's a words-vs.-pictures thing. I prefer words.
Thanks again for responding!

I have had the same problem... so many times. It requires me to go back through the help log and find the answer to the question. It seems that the process is very user unfriendly. Is there a way that we could just have it listed under the Docs tab?

Totally agree. Had this problem today and it was really frustrating for me to find - before and after I read the tutorial above. On top of that when I'd try to create a new note in a new notebook, I couldn't see the new note pop up on the sidebar, because it was being prevented from coming up by search filters that were still active.
They need to make the Create New Notebook link waaaaay easier to find, not bury it under 3 layers of buttons in a small + icon.

I think you are referring to the Docs menu, where "Notebook" is listed as a document Type, but you can't create one in the New drop-down?

It took me a couple minutes to find too! Perhaps there's a way we could take a page from MS OneNote notebook set up.
Logos is SO feature rich that it's going to take a bit of time to become an advanced user.
Remember the old days of Libronix? Wasn't as fancy, but it was a powerful tool.
I'm hoping to again make Logos a more efficient way to accomplish Bible study and anything else related to Theology.
I sure love this product!Thank you for the helps.

Yes...Like in this tutorial which looks like it uses an older version of Logos. The "Notbook" vs "Note File" language is different and the Docs vs Documents menu works differently. In Logos 8, Docs | New should offer a Notebook selection.
Notes and Notebooks are more akin to Docs than they are to Tools. Notes and Clippings are very similar but Clippings are under Docs while Notes are under Tools. Once you learn it, you have it, but it's counterintuitive.

I know this is an old post but I struggled for the past hour to create a notebook. I finally realized that I had to click on the three line thing above in the upper left corner, then realized that I had to open the screen because the + symbol was not visible when the screen was 1/2 of the screen. When I dragged to make the screen bigger then the + symbol magically appeared. This problem is particularly pernicious for people with poor eyesight who use larger screen fonts. Often, what appears to all with superman vision does not appear to us with bigger print and zoomed in screens. Just something to keep in mind with old people like me.

I second Philip's comment. I finally discovered the + sign was partially covered by the next column, and I could not move the column boundary. Fortunately, I could click the bit of + sign I could see.

That might help if I could make that panel wider. Those icons may indeed be there further to the right than I can see. But when I move the cursor to the line between those two panels the pointer does change to what I would expect to see for resizing, but moving it doesn't change the size. Version 9.8.0.0010.

thanks! worked like a charm once I figured out how to get to the right tab.
