Logos Connect AND Purchase of Full Feature Set
Is there any benefit to purchasing the Full Features Set if you are a Logos Now (Connect) Member?
I can purchase the full features set for around $120, and I have always purchased the features in the past... But is this a waste of money is I stay on Connect?
I am one that would rather own the product then rent the product... Would I be better off waiting for the time that I might cancel my subscription and then purchase the full feature set?

Kason, you gain nothing in the short-term by buying the features since you already have them through Connect. However, the price to purchase them could go up when discounts disappear, so if you cancel Connect at that point you might regret not having bought them now. The price you mentioned is about the cost of a one year subscription to Connect Essentials, so if you are thinking of not continuing it, it pretty much balances out.

Hi Kason
If your photo is anything to go by then you probably have a long time of Bible Study ahead of you.
As time moves on IT tools will develop and change and become obsolete.
Maintaining your Connect subscription will provide some future proofing for you. In fast moving fields it is often better to rent than to buy.
I know many folk who bought the best computer that they could manage on the grounds that it would last a lifetime. Oops.

Thank you guys! Good Points for sure.
I guess I'm in the boat that I could either upgrade to all the features every year or keep my subscription going.
My concern is if the connect price increases and I let my features get behind it will then cost a great deal to update to the newest feature set all at once (Maybe from Logos 7 to Logos 10).

I agree and even though I'm a connect member I bought the features anyway for $109... I don't like being held to something so this way If I ever leave connect, I have my tools. Also as you mentioned if you leave connect in 3 years, you'll have 3 years of tools to catch up on

Your purchase price this time around is pretty good. If I were in your situation, I'd give it some serious thought. Going forward whatever feature set upgrades you'd encounter would likely be less than two years of subscribing to Connect.

All Mark says is true... if... Features is the only aspect of Connect that you value.
eg if you buy $5450 of resources in Logos you will get your subscription value credited to you in February. [;)]Free subscription, and all the free books and all the upgrade in the meantime. Who could want more?

Also, one other difference - buying features now puts you to Logos 8 level of features. As 8.1, 8.2, etc. may introduce new features, it is my understanding this is what the Connect subscribers get, but not someone who purchased Logos 8 but has not subscribed. Correct me if I am wrong.

This is presumably correct. Given how things have always worked before now, new post-8.0 features will be available to both Connect and Verbum Now subscribers, but it'll be case-by-case whether they become available to everyone else (and when).

I have connect and still bought the features, because you never know when you'll stop subscribing, besides the perks for connect make paying for the subscription worth it even though I have the features.
That is just my opinion.

I had thought about buying the feature set in L7 and ultimately chose not to. Does anybody know if I buy the feature set for L8 it will include all the features of L7? Or do I need to buy them separately?

will include all the features of L7
Yes. Check the list of what's included on the website. Honestly most of those features and datasets predate L8.

No, you are right. For many people that would be OK.
Some datasets will continue to be expanded and if you bought them you'll get those expansions. The new Notes tool will be free for all L8 owners. Brand new datasets and new features are usually Connect only.
