Need option to show the "anchor text" in notes on mobile

The actual text that I highlighted is impossible to see on notes on mobile without clicking on every single note twice. And the second click just opens up another tab scrolled to the highlight. If we had the option that is on the desktop version to see the full anchor text (ie the highlighted text) when clicking into a note, that would be a big improvement.

Joseph, if you download the resource with the highlights, the highlight previews should be rendered in the Notes Tool.

Wow. What an odd design decision. Yes, that works. But there's no way to discover it or even remotely guess that it would work like that. It's entirely counter-intuitive. If anything, I would say that saving highlights would be a way of preventing the need to download all the full resources to your phone, since you have the highlights you are interested in.

Except apparently you don't. Until you download the work. Perhaps that's a technical limitation, but I don't understand why downloading the full work would be a requirement for viewing the text of the highlight. Why not simply make it part of the note?

Anyway, Thanks so much for letting me in on the special knowledge. :)

P.S. I'm really pleased in general with the new notes redesign. (Although it is definitely freezing up fairly regularly for me on my iPhone when I try to access notes.)

I dunno. In my head, clippings is the main tool for saving text itself, while highlights is mainly for marking text locations to quickly locate them again. That's not a particularly clean line in my head - I want highlights to be more specific than bookmarks, of course, and I do like the ability to see the highlighted text in the notes tool - just not sure if I think it should be expected.

I've been constantly frustrated by those two tools (highlighting and clipping) because I want the functionality of both at once.

I want to see the passages I highlighted visually pop out when scrolling back through a book. And I want to be able to pull out just the stuff I highlighted in a book and read through it and share/reference it. Unfortunately, making a clipping's document for every book is the only way to do the latter, but even if I do that, the passages I clipped aren't highlighted in the book. So basically I have to both highlight and clip every single text if I want to be able to view the texts in two different ways.

And why I can't get the bibliographic info for the anchor text of a highlight, I'll never know.

Anyway, some of these things will hopefully be fixed with the (still) upcoming improvements to the new Notes functionality. Plus, I'm way off topic.

This is very perplexing to me, too. If one makes a note that, in any way, interacts the text they have highlighted they won't actually know what they are referring to without having to navigate to the text. Not the most user-friendly and it makes using mobile devices much less functional for those of us who rely on these notes/highlights for papers, sermons, etc.

I've seen this issue raised more than once in these forums, but have yet to see any response from FL. Is there any official word on the matter?
