Highlighting discrepancy

Not a major problem except that I have noticed this occationally... that at times what should be highlighted in a bible word study, it tends not to select exactly the same content across panels.

In the left pane the word "abstain" is left out of the selected hightlight... only "to" is highlighted.

Here is the reason it shows up this way. There is a difference between the NKJV and the ESV (possibly others as well, I did not check any others) render this verse in the interlinear.

No, look again...nkjv.

In any event if they are including the article "tou" with "apecho" in the interlinear hightlight and the english highlight why isn't it include in the highlight in the left panel... "apecho" is left off while "to" is highlighted. I could see leaving off the english "to", but not "abstain".

My issue is with consistancy across panels when the resources are of a like kind... in this case NKJV (I direct you to the first img post).

For instance in 1 Thes 4:3:

"should abstain" is what is presented in english to represent "ἀπέχεσθαι" but "should" is not highlighted in the lemma based verse lists for "apecho"... only abstain (compare above img with below img).

Again, in my first post I could see leaving off the english "to", but not "abstain".

Just to show that this is an issue with consistancy.

Here is the same results with the NIV. "to" has been left off while "abstain" is highlighted.

This may also bring up an "extended visual function" question as to highlighting... though my suggestion may not be something the dev team would want to tackle this late in the L4 game.

Here goes. Hey visual interface persons.

In the right panel in the English text (top right) the words "to abstain from" are auto highlighted when selecting "abstain" with a single mouse click. With that one mouse click, in the bottom right interlinear pane the same set "to abstain from" auto selects.

Now in the left panel I select the lemma from the circle chart ... visual consistency (though the specific mouse click trigger is missing) would dictate that in each verse listed the equivalent English phrase (from the right panels) should be highlighted and not just the sole word "abstain".

I understand the lemma is being displayed but the lemma without its context doesn't really mean "abstain" anymore than it means "refrain" or "away from". I know I may be taking this a bit too far...and this example is a verb so it sort of suits it better than trying to make the same argument with a noun. But you could argue this for adjectives...an example like "of the flesh" = σαρκικῶν | lemma=sarkikos.

Anyway, it's just a though on my preference of visual communication.

Not only is there inconsistency among a single resource internally, but check this out; using the ESV, I get the "abstain" identified with the article!

The NKJV issue is one of alignment & the ESV highlighting is also worthy of mention. Address them in an email to revint@logos.com and include a link to this thread.
