I wait for the blue-circled 1, near screen upper right corner.  Never appears......Now what?

Did you try the command, update now?

What are your "use internet" and "automatically download updates" settings?

I put update now in the blank very top left by the magnifying glass. Says no updates available.

That blue 1 should have appeared very quickly, then waited for me to click to download.  That is what transpired Monday for L8.

    Is their system  overwhelmed?

I don't know why, but Logos 8 seems to hide the fact it's downloaded new books - it might well be my most-missed feature from Logos 7. Have you checked your library for items downloaded today? It's one of the bottom options on the library filter list.

This is exactly it, James.  The cust. service lady said to check my library; voila, there they are.

    Thanks James + 'Bama.!!!

I miss the bit from 7 where it told you what had been added/updated. If possible, I’d like to see it retur.

For some reason Logos staff always give the impression that they hate letting us know what has been updated and it has to be a big secret or people will start to ask them questions about it.

However time and time again people beg and plead that they would like to know and every now and then Logos grudgingly allow us some basic details, which now appear to have disappeared.

I do find it a worry that Logos still gives the impression that it is beneath then to give people what they want and their customers should really know better.

Actually it's just as easy now, and it gives you more information.

Open your Library (CTRL/CMD-L). On the left is a number of filters you can use to view your library or portions thereof in various ways. Under "Last Updated" choose the range of days you'd like to view (Today, Last 7 Days, Last 14 Days, Last 30 Days).

    There you go.

Now you can see all of your new books listed that match the filter. Plus you can see the author, type of book, what series it's a part of (if applicable) and/or whatever info you like displayed in your library.

A further advantage of this, is that you can open any book, and the old L7, home page pop up doesn't go away. Your Library will still be open and you can Alt-Tab back to it (no idea how to switch windows on a Mac) to continue exploring your new resources.

IMHO, this is really much, much better than the old way.

I love the library filters and it's definitely better for some things, but I think it self-evidently isn't just as easy.

    Old system:

Having a prominent prompt on your dashboard telling you that books have been updated without any need for user-interaction requires zero steps. Seeing the list of books requires one step.

    New system:

Being unsure of whether updates have been made at all means it's already harder than the first step, because interaction is required. Opening your library and applying filters is an additional two steps (three clicks).

The end result is more useful for interactions with those texts, but I'm worried that book updates I'm waiting for (Tov's latest, for instance) might get updated without me even noticing, or Faithlife connect trial freebies might appear without my knowing about them.

You're right. It would be nice to have a notification that something has been updated or downloaded. This would make a good suggestion to the dev team.
