Reformed Bronze Pkg - Mentor Commentaries

The L8 Reformed Bronze package includes the Mentor Commentary Series.  I don't have any experience with this series and have found very little information on it in my searches (including a Google search of the Logos forums).

There isn't too much else in this Bronze package that I'm interested in or don't already have, so I'm trying to determine if the Mentor set would be worth the $51 I'd pay for the package.

I already own several decent commentary sets (NIC, WBC, NAC, NIVAC, Pillar, NIGTC, Expositor's, BST, Tyndale, Calvin, etc.).  Any thoughts as to whether Mentor brings anything new to the table?

It's a British series, fairly technical, and published by a relatively small conservative evangelical publisher. It would fall somewhere between the Tyndale Commentaries and the NICOT in terms of depth, roughly equal to NICOT in terms of length, and roughly equally to Tyndale in terms of theological perspective.

It's very incomplete, as I'm sure you've noticed, although they seem to have started with the less well-served books of the Bible like Chronicles, Lamentations and Leviticus, which is useful. Even in my very extensive Logos library I only have eight technical commentaries on Leviticus, and the Mentor volume would easily be my first or second choice (along with Wenham's NICOT volume), at least until Kiuchi's AOTC volume arrives.

$51 for 17 volumes sounds great value to me. I paid $165 just to get the latest nine volumes on pre-pub (I presume I got the rest with another base package).

Thank you, Mark.  That's MUCH more info than I'd found anywhere else.  I placed my order.

By the way, I noticed you said there were 17 volumes in the set, but on the web page for the Reformed Bronze package it only listed 16 volumes, so I checked the web page again and noticed that on a separate line above the line for the 16 volume set, it had an entry titled "A Mentor Commentary: Philippians".  On closer inspection, it looks to be a part of that same series.  If so, it's even a little better deal than I was expecting. [:)]

Thanks again for your insight on this set.

Here‘s another thread about the Mentor Commentary Series: https://community.logos.com/forums/p/168922/977463.aspx#977463. I ended up picking it up in the Reformed Bronze base package as well 👍🏻

I have been happy with this series so far- have especially enjoyed the volume on Proverbs.
