Workflow Suggestion: Open Layouts

For other workflow suggestions, see this post.

Concept: Allow us to open layouts within the workflow tool. Each of the applicable resources would open to the key for the workflow. Resources without a parallel key would stay at the last location, and the workflow itself would open as a floating window, if it is not already included in the layout.

Benefit: Layouts allow us to perform interconnected tasks in a way that workflows do not. Imagine if, for the observation step, I can open a couple of key translations, the clause analysis and a highlighter palette open, and ready to go alongside my workflow. All of the things that have made layouts useful will be multiplied by linking them to the new benefits of workflows.

That wouldn't suit me, but I can see how it would be useful for those who use layouts extensively. I presume you'd want the workflow instance to persist into the opened layout?

This is my personal Faithlife account. On 1 March 2022, I started working for Faithlife, and have a new 'official' user account. Posts on this account shouldn't be taken as official Faithlife views!

Yes sir. It seems like the best way to use layouts the way I have always wanted to.

I like this idea for not arbitrarily placing the WF on the layout and yet having it where it can be quickly drag-n-dropped where desired.
