Where’d all these highlights come from?

Sitting here in church, opened Logos on my iPad, and all kinds of highlights are visible. It’s been years since I’ve messed with these (because of poor functionality) and I can’t rememher how to turn them off.
They are slowing things down. How do I turn them off/hide them?
Eating a steady diet of government cheese, and living in a van down by the river.
