Setup was unable to download a required file

When I try use the link from my account or this one http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/Installer/Logos4Setup.exe found in another post I get the following result.

If I click okay Setup seems to continue to run. This is a reinstall where I am changing the drive on which it is installed. If I could have just moved the data files it would have been great but not possible I understand.

I am using Method 2 to install to Drive F: which has 477GB of free space. My C: drive is a 128GB SSD with 15.7GB free. I have previously uninstalled Logos 4 and after a failed attempt uninstalled agin and then removed references in the registry to Logos 4

When setup finishes I get the following message

I am running Windows 7 with 6GB RAM

For Method 2 it is important that your original installation is the same version you are installing. If not the case then you will have to use Method 3. That has nothing to do with this issue but just so you know!

If you have installed .NET 4.0 then you should get in touch with Technical Support on Monday. Otherwise ==>

It is best to completely uninstall Logos4 (Prerequisites as well) from Control Panel. Remove all traces of the Logos4 folder (except for your backup which should be in another folder). Set up Diagnostic Logging and install as per Method 2 or 3 (you can still do a custom install with Method 3). Make sure you install from an Administrator user account but do not right click and "run as Administrator".

Thanks Dave for your response. I am not sure about .NET 4.0 Looking at the "Turn Windows features on or off" window I can see .NET 3.5 and there is nothing about .NET anything in "Programs anf Features".

I was using method 2 because I had to the best of my knowledge, deleted all reference to Logos 4 in the registry before I installed it again. I also did use the control method of starting. I will try the logging methods to get more details which I will upload as soon as I can.

Actually the log info that I gave in my first post is all that appears when I use the Control key stat method. I'll check out the other methods to see if they give anything more.

Hi again Dave

I made sure that the registry was showing the correct settings for logging and started Logos again with the same result. I get two files one called Logos4.log and the other called Logos4Crash.txt. These are the details in my original post with no changes in the result. There is no indexing log as it hasn't got past being able to start.

One question I have is how do I know that I have successfully deleted the prerquisites. I ran uninstall on prerequisites in "Programs and Features" but is there some way of knowing it is completely gone.

Sorry to bombard you like this, I guess that its what happens when I'm at the other side of the world to most who might post here. In case you are wondering I live in Western Australia

Well after several attempts it finally worked. After uninstalling amd having cleaned the registry of Logos4 entries I ended up using a registry cleaning program to clean the register and somehow it all worked after that. Strange thing is that I looked at all the keys it wanted to delete and didn't see any that had Logos4 in them. So there must have been something that Logos relates to that is not obvious.

Oh well all done now at 3:30am.

I wish I could say I had learned something that might help others but not to be.

Anyway hope I haven't wasted your time reading this. Someone who has a clue might comment on something that would help us to learn.

It's best to leave registry settings alone unless you know what specifically has to be removed/changed. The Logos uninstall feature works well and manually deleting the Logos4 folder removes files/folders that can cause installation errors.

Main thing is that it finally worked!

BTW I'm just a few hours ahead of you in Melbourne.

I'm running Windows 10. Had the same error after downloading the install file. I tried the first solution for Windows Firewall. Fail.

I decided to go to the setup file, right click and selected "RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR." BOOM! Done deal!

This is a very old thread and the causes for problems reported here are probably very different to what you are seeing

I decided to go to the setup file, right click and selected "RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR." BOOM! Done deal!

In general, it is recommended to not run Logos in administrator mode. Having to do so is probably masking some underlying issue.

If you do want help, now or in the future, in determining what the problems is please start a new thread in the Logos 6 forum.
