Custom workflows, collections and other variables

Are there plans to add the ability to add collections to "Workflows?" I am too set in my ways right now to use the workflows as they are, but if they had the ability to add collections/individual resources to the flow I think I could use them. I think they could discipline me in my study. Very useful........
