Best Practices for Note Migration
As we transition from Old Notes to New Notes, there may be some modifications to clean up our organization of notes and notebooks. Those of you have mastered the new notes and have 10's of thousands of notes and 100's of notebooks, what are you choosing to do?
1. Leave things as they are and just move forward from here?
2. Dump notes out of notebooks, get rid of most of the notebooks and start over (since highlights and many notes are already connected to Resources)?
3. Spend hours consolidating notes and notebooks?
4. Notebooks and Visual Filters--sometimes you want them sometimes you don't want hundreds...solution?
5. For what reasons do you find that you actually use Notebooks?
6. For what reasons are your choices best practices?
7. What other tips and tricks could we compile to get launch forward in the best way possible?

Personally, I have made the complete switch. I got rid of 90% of my notebooks. I had well over 100 and now only have 14. I wish there was more control over the display of notes other than Notebook filters, there was some talk of that changing in the future but I haven't heard anything else about it but I hope that comes to pass.
I have notebooks if I am taking notes on a certain topic or passage that I might not always want the indicators/highlights displayed. I use notebooks for Workflows because that is how they work. I use notebooks for certain highlighting pallets that I do not always want visible.
My primary organization method in the new system is tagging. The only issue is that my old notes are not tagged and I have not yet decided how i wish to proceed with that. But honestly, I find myself using notes a lot more with the new system. In the Old System, I often reverted to Evernote for any useful note-taking.

2. How do you "dump notes out of notebooks" then delete the notebook? If I delete a notebook it appears to delete the notes in it as well.
I presently have notebooks for each book of the Bible. Is it now best, less complicated, to perhaps just keep them all in one notebook such as "New Testament notes"?

I've moved nearly all of my notes/highlights out of resource-specific notebooks into a palette-specific notebook and then deleted the now-empty notebooks. It took me about an hour (I only have 1,400 notes/highlights).
I did so because (at the moment) we can't filter by palette, but we can filter by resource, and because it just tidies things up in the notes filter and the visual filter menu.
This is my personal Faithlife account. On 1 March 2022, I started working for Faithlife, and have a new 'official' user account. Posts on this account shouldn't be taken as official Faithlife views!

I have the same question as Bob. To risk deleting all the work that has gone into those notes is not something I relish.

While in a notebook, you can select multip notes by holding down control while clicking on notes, or shift + click (CMD + Click for Mac) and you can bulk move the notes to "No Notebook"
No real need to make a New Testament Notebook. All of your anchored notes are already filtered by the biblical book using the filters.

Here is what I did.
1. Open the Note tool.
2. Choose one of your old Notebooks in the left panel.
3. Select all of the notes with Shift click (in a PC) in the middle panel. Note that if there are a lot of notes you may not be able to choose all of them at one time. I could get about 60 chosen at once.
4. In the right panel select the drop down menu for notes. Choose No Notebook.
5. Scroll to the bottom of the panel and choose Apply Changes.
6. In the left panel it should now show 0 notes for that notebook.
7. Go back to the panel, click on the 3 dots, choose Delete.
To see all of your notes for a specific book you would just choose that book from the Filters - Bible Books. Logos now tags all of your notes with the verse they are attached to.

I have something like 27,000 highlights and notes (How it grew to be so many, I can't imagine. Grudem's ST alone claims 10% of those), so the task of sorting manually feels formidable. Maybe it won't be so bad.

Do you mean that you created multiple Palette-specific notebooks and sorted into notebooks that way? I would assume (??) that filtering by palette will soon be possible--so is that necessary?

I only use two palettes — one for Bibles and one for everything else. That split seemed to a sensible division for notebooks too.

You may not have made all those by yourself: you can - now! - look at the author facet and see for yourself (nearly half of mine come from shared notebooks and course groups).
But you don't need to do anything like sorting, moving, organizing or so - just leave them as they are and you're fine! Those who came accustomed to use Notebooks are free to continue to use them - and even make these more precise if they want to - but those who disliked the concept from the beginning may continue as they did (and yes, there was a time before the current note system, and lengthy discussions about the merits and demerits of "highlights are notes!" and "a notebook per resource or what?"). Nothing really gets lost, some functionality you may have used will come back soon.
