Too many commentaries

Over the years my library has grown. I have so many commentaries and even more since the last upgrade. What would be great is if all the bigger commentary sets came with an introduction video telling you about the scholarship behind them.. Dunno just a thought

What a great idea. Imagine a series on FL TV presenting all the more popular commentaries and series. That would have helped me choose better.

To branch out they could highlight journals, dictionaries, systematic theologies, etc. .. If it's done right it should lead to more sales for logos so it's a win-win investment

The LearnLogos.com tutorials have many brief resource intro videos. Obviously these alone do not justify the cost of training, but if you needed training anyway, these might help sweeten the deal. The commentary survey books also include series introductions at the beginning.

There have been a number of videos produced for commentary sets. Here are the ones I could find easily.

Those are nice but say very little about the actual resource and almost nothing about the background, purpose, authors, etc. They are a reasonable and quite effective sales-pitch and beginner training for Logos, but not for the resource.

Videos are nice, of course. But most of the information you want is already available in the Old Testament Commentary Survey and New Testament Commentary Survey.
My four tips would be:
- Use the information there to kick-start your in prioritisation.
- Split up your commentaries into different collections and customise your Passage Guide accordingly.
- As you use the commentaries yourself
- Adjust your prioritisation according to your own assessment.
- Add star-ratings to commentaries you particularly value.
- Create "Favourite" commentary collections based on your star rating.
