Today I was on vacation, overlooking the ocean, reading from Library.logos.com on my Kindle. Way cool! Thank you so much for your work to fix the issues with the Kindle. It works great. No issues with accessing my library, reading, or using reading plans.

I am on a 1st generation Kindle. I could not get it to work in Default Mode. Use advanced mode (and I have JavaScript enabled).

Very cool.  Maybe you should post this on every thread that is asking for Logos on Kindle.  Happy vacation!

    Hi Roger,

Unfortunately this is not an option for international users as the web browser is disabled... I have asked elsewhere that Logos consider an export function so we can at least load up and read some of our Logos books on the Kindle format. I would be delighted even to have the most basic functionality (I struggle reading at my desktop).

I appreciate, however, that Logos may have reservations about directing resources into the Kindle given the advent of the iPad (which is a little out of my price range at the moment).

I am delighted for Jacob, however... The ocean, a Kindle and his Logos library sounds a very good combination...!

Hmm...I must be doing something wrong. We are talking about http://library.logos.com/?beta=true , right? When I try to run the library icon, nothing happens. I have a Kindle 1, with everything enabled. I did notice the other day that, while I still wasn't able to log in to the library site, the library site now retains my login info from logging in to the Forum site (that wasn't true a month or two ago).

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

I believe he's talking about the mobile version (http://library.logos.com/?beta=false). I would be very surprised if the Kindle could run the beta version =)

I have a Kindle 2 and would really like to use it with Logos but so far I don't know the right steps.  Others on other threads have said it is horrible to navigate (and I was one of them)  but in this thread there seem to be some who love it.  Would it be possible for those who love it to please explain how to go about it?  I know to sign into my Logos account on my computer (?) and then use advanced mode and enable Java on kindle.  I am not sure what beta true and beta false mean.

OK, thanks.. I wonder if I'm the only one who's been bewildered by the various versions. I probably missed the post / wiki page that makes this all crystal clear and obvious.

Seriously. Who keeps writing all these sites, anyway?

    Bryan,

Because it looks like you work for Logos (great), can you please bring clarity to this thread or post a link where we can get accurate information? Thanks!

And  I don't know what you mean by "seriously. who keeps writing all these sites, anyway?"  I'd like to understand that comment.  Again, I appreciate the help.

Sorry, that was a joke. I wrote the different versions of the library.logos.com site.  =)

can you please bring clarity to this thread or post a link where we can get accurate information?

Is the confusion just about the different versions of the site? library.logos.com is a basic mobile site that we provided as an alternative to the logos iphone app. We then decided it might be cool to also have a more full-featured version for desktop browsers. We started work on this new version, but because it wasn't very stable, we hid it behind the 'beta' URL parameter (http://library.logos.com?beta=true). We have decided that for the time being we won't be continuing development on the beta version, and it will probably be taken down in time.

The Kindle is a mobile device, and should be used to access the mobile version of the site, which is the default at http://library.logos.com if you don't set beta=true.

The confusion started for me the first time I accessed the site on the Kindle and saw:

"This site was designed for use on mobile devices as an alternative to Logos for iPhone. It looks like you're visiting on a desktop browser. Feel free to poke around, but parts of the site may not behave as expected. Try coming back on a cell phone!"...which led me to believe that Logos.com looked at my Kindle as a desktop emulator; and it didn't seem to work.

Then when Bob posted about the beta for desktop browsers, I assumed that should be the method to use if I should want to use the Kindle to access Logos.

The library.logos.com/?beta=false is the site that I'm accessing. Although you should just type library.logos.com in. You'll need to sign in (and therefore have cookies enabled). It should just work.

The navigation is a little bit weird if you aren't used to navigation on a Kindle web. The images at the top will appear as a list  of <active link> if you click on it. The first in the list in the left-most image on the line; the last is the right-most. Besides that the navigation seems pretty straightforward.

I'm on a first-generation Kindle and don't know if it is different for others.

BRIAN: I think some of the confusion is that over the last few days when I go to library.logos.com on my phone and kindle it sometimes directs me to the ?beta=true site which is completely unnavigable on those devices. Typing in the /?beta=false address does not get me back to the mobile site. I just keep refreshing and eventually the ?beta=false site comes up. What I've had to do is bookmark the page that shows the reading plans and following that bookmark makes sure that I don't get the ?beta=true site. There seems to be an issue on the server end that started recently in this regard.

I hope this is only a for-a-time decision. The online access possibilities are huge. But I do like the decision to focus the programming efforts some more. Improving  the mobile version and the iPhone versions (highlighting, notetaking, improved searching) is more important at this time.

We have been having this issue intermittently and I haven't been able to track down the cause yet. Have you seen the problem on anything other than the home page? That actually narrows things down a little =)

No, homepage only. I can always get to a page inside the mobile site by following a bookmark, but when I go to the homepage, it'll kick me right back out to the beta site (or not, depending on the server's mood)

Well, I still cannot log on from my Kindle.  I can bring up the site and the log on but no matter how I do it, I cannot log on.

Make sure you are in advanced mode. Try clearing your cookies (You do both of these from the Settings Menu within the Browser). Then try again.

I have a Kindle 2 w/o the 2.5 update and i found how to get my library and the search function to work properly.  I logged in to library.logos.com in basic mode, then switched to advanced mode and typed in the url: http://library.logos.com/search.html or http://library.logos.com/resources.html and it read correctly!
