Mixed feelings on persistent filters

First let me say I absolutely love the new filters (resources, documents, etc..) in themselves. What I'm a little mixed on is how they are automatically persistent. I often find myself clicking on a filter to briefly note it's results and then wonder where the other items disappeared to before remembering I need to remove what filter I selected at the top first. I absolutely see the value in the clicking to keep adding filters to drill down to a target and I don't want to lose this ability. I just sometimes wish I could click on a filter in a way that let me view it without making it persistent so I don't have to select, remove, select, remove when quickly looking for items. Something like a shift + click or something might be nice. I completely acknowledge that I may be the only one who feels this way, but I thought I'd see what others thought.

The beta of 8.1 improves this somewhat in other areas. From the release notes: "Filters are now cleared when either the Guide or Tools menus are closed."
