Faithlife groups bug: Ancient Literature Dataset

https://beta.faithlife.com/lexham-ancient-literature-dataset/topics

I went to post in this dicussion group and found I could not because of the member/follower change a while back.  Please correct this on all relevant groups especially those linked to from the dataset documentation.

Wouldn't changing your membership to "member" let you post? I'm not an expert in Faithlife Groups, but I would have thought posting means you're not just following.

That's the point MJ was making regarding the member/follower change. FL-groups were changed so employees are the only members, all others can only choose to follow, however, they are usually allowed to post even as followers (and perform a lot of other activities, such as starting or participating in discussions or downloading files). See an example:

The group MJ pointed to looks a bit austere in comparison - and the discussion page clearly states: "You are not allowed to post to this group."

NB.Mick has it right. Faithlife left hand changed the roles of members/followers to solve some problem but Faithlife right hand wasn't told so discussion groups aren't working as intended. I'd suggest that after fixing this one, all the other data ones be reviewed. Then Faithlife left hand and Faithlife right hand might head out for a coffee (or Mexican chocolate mocha).

Thanks: i've got a better understanding now of how these permissions are supposed to work. We'll be modifying dataset groups to allow followers to post.

Thank you - and I hope that we can get them working to serve their purpose.
