(I wasn't sure where to post this so I chose Notes because that is the function that is initially bugging me.)

I just upgraded to LOGOS 8 and discovered two problems with notes in my first couple days of use:  One is the way adding cross-references (Anchors) works usability-wise (I've addressed this to the development team).  The second is that an active hyperlink is not created when copying a quote from a book into a note.

Adding Anchors: I can no longer use the Enter key to confirm the selected anchor and I have to re-select "Add Anchor" for each additional anchor I want to add. I always thought that using the enter key instead of clicking a button with the mouse was industry standard.  Apparently, FL doesn't think so or just doesn't care about providing common functionality.  As far as having to re-select the "Add Anchor" rather than leaving the dialog open and selecting "Done" when finished, that is probably functionality that can be debated forever as to which is the most usable for the majority of users. I can get used to this changed functionality, though.

Cross-reference hyperlink: Releasing the product w/o the automatic hyperlink to copied references working is unacceptable. Releasing a product as a formal (not beta) release missing expected functionality is just plain poor business/customer relations. When loyal customers upgrade, they expect to find all functionality they have been using to be working in the new release.  No product should be released until it supports all existing function of the previous release because that is what loyal users are expecting.

I may have missed it, but I only recall seeing hoopla about all the new function and nothing about "what won't work yet" or "what has been removed."  Also, I've seen a list of upcoming functions referenced in other posts, but have not found it.

FL, if you really care about your customers and not just selling the product, then you need to do something meaningful about this.  Sure, it appears I can go back and use the old Note 7 in version 8, but it sounds like that is very risky, especially if I create/edit a note via the app. I can also take advantage of the 30-day refund policy, which I may have to do.  However, in my not-so-humble-opinion, FL needs to withdraw LOGOS 8 as a release and rename it a beta, giving those of us who have purchased L8 the option of staying with the beta or going back to L7 with a "coupon/credit" guaranteeing us that we can purchase the fully functional version when it becomes available at the price we paid, or a lower price, as applicable when it is re-released.

The link to "what doesn't work yet" was emailed to many customers about a week before Logos 8 was launched. Part of the purpose of that email was to let people know that the new notes tool would not just be a better version of notes, but a different version of notes.

Thank you, William, for taking the time to write this message.

Setting aside any issues of accountability or responsibility, let's please not call out someone based on our subjective perception of the condition of their heart.

Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

This is hardly fair or necessary.  They have been upfront that the Notes Tool is different. Nobody was required to upgrade day 1. Faithlife Connect users were given the option to delay. The option to use the old Notes System is there.

Technically the proposition, behavior > heart is a Biblical one. And even shows up in neurological research. More recent theology has separated the two, along with a reduced number of witches (true).

I understand your frustration and I know it can be unsettling when what we expect to see is not there. However, "loyal customers" should be used to the development practices of Faithlife. Whether you think that they are good or bad, they publish frequent, iterative releases that grow in their "fulness". With online distribution this seems more common with developers. Even Apple and Microsoft do this with major overhauls of their software.

If they would have waited to release Logos 8 until the notes tool was "complete" (by whose definition) we would have been waiting well into next year, if not further.

Besides, when is software ever complete? [:P]

Mark, I understand that F.L. needs time to work out all the bugs which were missed in the BETA testing.

Last week I purchased an upgrade on my PC/Mac to Logos 8 Silver and now on my iPad Pro (12.1) I cannot see any note icons in my preferred Bible where they were created on my PC/Mac. All my older highlights are missing also. Is there a way to select which note file should be shown in my preferred Bible? I hate to be negative but Logos iOS is almost unusable since you have upgraded it.

I would sure like to see a detailed video on using notes in Logos 8 iOS for a person who owns Logos 8 Silver. Thanks

What email Mark? Despite having selected to receive emails from FL I never receive any from them. I have spoken to a few FL staff members about this and they never get back to me. FL’s custome service and communications is poor. Buring this information in a FAQ and sending out a hit and miss email  is not good enough along and neither is knowingly releasing buggy software that is less functional than the previous version and charging customers to be Guinea pigs acceptable either. FL starting from the top do need to take a good hard look at they way they take customer loyalty for granted.

Sorry to hear you are having these problems.

We can't select which Notes notebooks are used but your notes should be visible - though they can take a long time to sync.

Please start a new thread in this forum - or the mobile one https://community.logos.com/forums/150.aspx - so we can look into what is happening for you.
