Recommend good resources/dictionaries for Logos
Hello, all
I wanted to ask you...maybe you are able to recommend some resources that will help me understand the real meaning of original world and some context to them. I will give you an example from MacArthur commentaries:
Paramuthion (consolation) has the literal meaning of speaking closely with someone, and with the added idea of giving comfort and solace
or
Paraklēsis (encouragement) has the root meaning of coming alongside someone to give assistance by offering comfort, counsel, or exhortation.
I am wondering where from people get these insights?
I have Logos 8 Platinum.
THANK YOU!

Hmmm ... Aleksander, that's not any easy question.
For example, the Oxford Bible Commentary has a good discussion on those words in context, but the UBS Commentary doesn't. In other words, an in-depth commentary may discuss specific words, or may not.
Lexicons are similar ... they WILL have the word, but limited discussion of its usage. Plus examples of usage.
Theological dictionaries probably come closest to what you are seeking, I'm guessing. They can be very pricey. To get your feet wet (and on sale):
But for specifics, maybe more detail on how you'd like to use?

I have this print edition and it is a great thing. I just realised there is this exact set available in Logos. I think I am going to purchase it.

The way I would like to use is that you take a word and you get an explanation on the meaning, usage and historical context.

There are several lexicons you may already have in your Platinum package, such as Spicq's TLNT: look at https://ref.ly/logosres/tlnt?hw=%CF%80%CE%B1%CF%81%CE%B1%CE%BA%CE%BF%CE%B7%CC%81&off=1513 - Spicq will also link to others such as TDNT (Kittel), which is the complete edition of the one Denise linked to above. Also to EDNT, which again is contained in your package, see e.g. https://ref.ly/logosres/exgdctnt?hw=%CF%80%CE%B1%CF%81%CE%B1%CC%81%CE%BA%CE%BB%CE%B7%CF%84%CE%BF%CF%82

Thank you. How do I have access to it? I mean how to add them to my workflow so that when I point to a specific word, I am going to see the explanations from one of these lexicons? Would you know? Thank you!

You use a bible with Reverse Interlinear functionality, such as NIV. When you right-click on a word, you select the Lemma from the right-hand-side of the context menu (the red arrow points there). The choices on the left-hand-side will now include lookup in your 5 top prioritized lexicons - you may need to scroll down a bit (the red box).
EDIT: Alternatively, you can choose to have the Logos information tool open and doing this for you. Open it via Tools / Information from the menu and open the Definition section. When you click on a word - you could also choose to have it work on mouse-over, what you like - it will show the beginning of the definition in your dictionaries and lexicons:

Headword search can be useful. Started with g:paramuthion to show a pop-up list of Greek - selected Lemma then changed to Headword
TDNT => Theological Dictionary of the New Testament (TDNT) (10 vols.) is included in Logos 8 Platinum
Vines => Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words is in the Vine Collection
Zodhiates is in AMG Bible Essentials
