Change Font in Logos 8 Mobile App

Is there a way to return to the font typeface that pre-existed before Logos 8 in the mobile apps? I find the new font difficult to read and like the option to use the Default (logos 7) setting in the desktop app. The new font face is not really my favorite.

Agreed, it really does not look good on a Fire 7 (low resolution), letters different heights, faded etc.

It does however look good on my phone which has a much higher resolution screen.

This was requested right after Logos 8 was launched.

I changed back to the old app because I do a lot of reading on my tablet and the new font is really distracting.

    Hi Kevin

I have been following the discussions about the font.

While it is not my favourite, and actually I wouldn't even class it as a good choice, I have been wondering why folk seem to get so worked up about it. When I read a book I usually put up with whatever font the publisher has chosen but it is rarely bad enough for me to comment on.

Your screenshot helpfully reminded me that while the font is the same its appearance can be radically different depending on the device chosen.

Here is a screen shot from my iPad. It is an order of magnitude better than the example you posted.

And actually the screen shot in the post is a poor replica of what is really seen.

I wonder if what would be best is not so much a return to the old font but the option of a font optimised for low resolution screens?

    Mike,

The answer is quite simple.  To me, the Logos apps' main purpose is reading.  If I have a hard time using it for reading due to the font choice, the app is not doing what is supposed to be doing.

I don't think Logos will revert to the old font only because some of the users don't have screens with higher resolutions.  But at least Logos should offer some font choices.  I would be happy with the sans serif font used in the forums.  I use a few other reading apps and all of them offer at least a few font choices.

I think having a couple of font choices on the mobile app would be a good idea as well.

I take your point George and I was trying to imply that while I did wonder the posting of the screen shot above meant that I no longer wonder.

I agree that a choice of fonts is desirable and make the point again that perhaps the choice should include a font particularly designed to be effective on low resolution screens.
