Trouble understanding Passage Lists

So I've been working with Passage Lists for a while, but just when I think I'm getting to understand them I seem to run into difficulties.
Specifically, I can't figure out why when I select a portion of text in NPNF 1.11, Chrysostom's homilies on Romans, and then click the "...selected text" option from the menu under "Add", that the selected text doesn't appear in the list.
However, if I typed in the "Reference" box the specific milestone I would get the entire homily in the list. I don't want to use that method though in this instance, as it would be an intolerably large portion of text.
Is there something I am misunderstanding about how this is supposed to work?

I can't reproduce what you are describing

Which version of Logos 8 are you using and on which platform?

No, I'm not trying to produce the Scripture references, I am trying to produce the actual selected text.
However, I am using Windows 10 and the software info is:
Logos Bible Software 8.0 SR-2
8.0.0.05910 -

Sorry - I misunderstood. But that's not how Passage Lists work.
From the helpfile:
• ... selected text — adds passages within selected resource text.
So the "add -> selected text" option scans the selected text and adds in any Bible references contained within it.
To copy the actual text you would need to use either a Note or a Clippings Document.

Okay. So "...selected text" is only for Scripture references within the selected text?

But I can still get the actual text by typing in the "Reference" box the milestone, at least I've been doing that with Philo, Polybius, Basil, etc. It just seems odd that I can get these texts copied into the passage list via the reference box but not through adding the "selected text", but I guess that's just the way it is.

Yes - in that case you are specifying the actual passage - from NPNF - as opposed to referring to a biblical passage within it.

Not just scripture references - but other references as well. See example below
