Hello! What's the best way I can execute a search to list all instances of each NT metaphor used to reference the Church (i.e. Body of Christ, Bride of Christ, Family of God, etc.) in Logos 8? Thanks!
Searching Lexham Figurative Language of the Bible Glossary for Believer finds many figurative language usages
Believer
One search for many Figurative Language Terms is (can be expanded to include many more terms)
{Section <FigurativeLanguageTerm = Body of Christ>} OR {Section <FigurativeLanguageTerm = Betrothed of Jesus>} OR {Section <FigurativeLanguageTerm = Believer>} OR {Section <FigurativeLanguageTerm = Ambassador>} OR {Section <FigurativeLanguageTerm = Body Part>} OR {Section <FigurativeLanguageTerm = Branch>} OR {Section <FigurativeLanguageTerm = Brother>} OR {Section <FigurativeLanguageTerm = Building as Believers>} OR {Section <FigurativeLanguageTerm = Called>}
Keep Smiling [:)]
You could probably scale those results down by pasting the following search syntax into a bible search:
{Label Figurative Language WHERE Target ~ <FigurativeLanguageTerm Church>} OR {Label Figurative Language WHERE Target ~ <FigurativeLanguageTerm Believers>}
Essentially, it's limiting the search to finding any figurative-language-tagged text where the "target" of the figurative language is either church or believers. Hence the all caps 'OR' between the two figurative language label searches.
To arrive at this, I:
gave me 254 hits within 189 verses. then you could scan them for the kinds of metaphors you're looking for.
This is so helpful. Thank you.
