Dear folks of faithlife, could you please give us an update on where you are with fixing the bugs that have been introduced with version 8 of the iOS app? Gathering from the forum the problems haven’t been fixed for many of us. This is taking weeks now, we can understand that some bugs are difficult to fix and that you are busy, but the fact that there is no communication regarding these issues makes the wait quite frustrating. I’m sure you’re aware that many of us are daily users of the app, it would be very helpful if we would at least know that you’re still working on it, and whether you are close to a fix or not. Thanks in advance for the status update and every blessing in your work on the app!

Daniel, let me as a volunteer, give you the same response I gave my boss when payroll had failed and I was trying to fix the problem - third time he asked I always replied it would get repaired faster if I wasn't interrupted. IT doesn't intentionally keep customers in the dark but when resolving bugs, the honest answer is "it will be done when it is done" up until an hour or so before you have it fixed and can estimate the time it takes for roll-out. Until then, estimates have to be very long to avoid setting up false expectations - but that upsets the people who are anxiously waiting. The best way as a customer one can help is staying out of the way and practicing patience. P.S. in 30 years we never missed a payroll although we did have to borrow equipment 50 miles down the freeway once.

M.J. I thoroughly agree with you.

However, an up to date list (and maintained on a daily basis) showing all the reported bugs would keep users in the loop. A bit like the canned music on call centre phone systems, you know they know you are still there. The list would also show what fixes will be included in the next update.

Otherwise we can flounder in the dark. Things can easily get overlooked and this would eradicate that as well.

    Have a blessed day.

You want to start a riot/uprising among the programmers!!!! Weekly is the industry standard, sort of ...

More seriously, how often do you check on Microsoft bug status? Adobe?

Hi MJ, I take your point, but after about a month and 2 releases that haven’t fixed the problems, it is unclear whether FL is aware that the problem hasn’t been fixed. I haven‘t seen any replies to recent messages about problems. A quick line to say that they’re aware and working on it would be enough. What Anthony is suggesting might be a bit over the top, but a weekly or even biweekly update on progress doesn’t seem like a lot to ask. To stick with your example of a failed payroll, I’m sure that if you hadn’t been able to fix the problem in a months time, you would have send a message to explain ;-)

    Hi MJ,

Point taken, sort of! I worked for many years in IT support positions.

However, I've never been in a position where Microsoft, for instance, had many bugs that affected me - perhaps I have been fortunate.

I am certainly not having a go at FL, even if it might have seemed so. Indeed I think that version 8 is a vast improvement on version 7. However, I have only been a user for a couple of years and version 7 was fairly bug free when I was using it.

All I am suggesting is some way that we can know the problems are being worked on. I'm not asking for timings or any further information than 'We know this is a bug/problem and our team are working on this or will be in due course'.

It can take some time to keep checking the forums to see whether something is known about and even then you are not sure whether anybody at FL has taken it on board or not.

Also I'm sure that somebody must already be listing these bugs somewhere, else the team wouldn't know what to work on. The only extra work would be when a fix is in place it could be marked on the list that it will be on the next update. Not really asking that much am I?

    Tony
